hi guys,

i just signed up with the forums.

Q: is there a way i can play mw2 offline LAN?
i wanna be able to set it up so that i can play with my friends.
i don't have an active internet connection.

is there a link for the instructions or a step by step tutorial on how to get this done?

Unfortunately you can't do this in MW2. It can however be done in the following games:

Call of Duty 1 (inc. all versions & patches)
Call of Duty 1: United Offensive (expansion pack)
Call of Duty 2 (inc. all versions & patches)
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (inc. all versions & patches)
Call of Duty: World at War (inc. all versions & patches)


The reason the feature is missing from MW2 onwards is that they changed how the multiplayer works (in a technical sense) Activision/Infinity Ward tell us it's so that PC, PS3 and 360 players all get the "same experience." People a little more cynical will point out that it conviniently let Activision make much more profit as they only had to make 1 game and copy/paste it onto PC from consoles.

Regardless, the bottom line is that a lot of good features were needlessly taken away from the PC version to bring it more into line with the console versions.
