I havn't changed anything like my router or any settings so I don't know what could of happened, it was working fine until last night
It gets up to the end of the countdown and right before the match starts it sticks on 'Waiting...' or 'Match beginning...' or whatever I wouldn't say it freezes because there's still movement onscreen, although no response from the pad, and just hangs there It also lags a bit more than usual when selecting multiplayer from the main menu, whilst SP and spec ops are both fine My NAT type is open The disk looks fine, my internet is fine, xbox live is working as normal Any ideas?? |

Wireless? The actual "speed" of wireless these days is great, but even if 99% of the packets of data reach you (which is the inherant issue with wireless, not all the data gets to you) it still simply is not good enough for gaming. If you're on wireless, move your 360 temporarily so you can connect with a proper ethernet wire.
ISPs aren't perfect either, nor is the cable between your house and the exchange. If you have used 3 different routers/modems (most modems ARE routers as well these days hence you only have one box, not a modem plus a £300 high performance/gaming router like you would have needed 7 years ago) and the problem still persists then that does point to your ISP... Do us (and yourself) a favour by taking a pingtest.net and a speedtest.net to see the quality of your connection. In online gaming your internet connection is all about quality NOT speed.

This is getting repetitive. |

Yeah I'm using a proper ethernet cable rather than wireless right now, still no help
Unfortunately I don't have any other games with me atm so I can't test that out, but I'm connecting to Live and everything no problem Ping test - ping : 31 ms jitter : 6 ms packet loss : 0% line quality : A (mos 4.38) Speed test -

I have had many different online problems with this game it's getting beyond a joke !! It was working fine at the start for the first week or so but now they still persist.
Firstly I assumed it was a NAT problem as it was telling me it was Strict and never found any games for me to join. So I put my XBOX 360 into a DMZ and that sorted things for a while. Now for the past couple of days it has started acting up again. My NAT suddenly changed back to strict so this time I decided to use port-forwarding. This worked in the sense that it found games for me to join but any game I joined I had one bar worth of connection and it was extremely laggy, despite my connection to XBOX Live being nearly full. So to make sure it wasn't just the XBOX I tried the PS3 version and the same thing happened. Fine connection to Playstation Network but not to MW2. Now today it has gone back to not being able to find me any games to join !! If this game wasn't so good I would have given up a long time ago but I am determined to find a way to fix this. I would be a little understanding if this wasn't the only game it happens for but I can play any other game online fine. I need some help but so far haven't found any suggestion that has worked. Maybe you could try the same things I did. Try using a DMZ and also try port-forwarding. Hopefully one of these succeed for you where they failed for me !!!

Try turning everything else off that uses internet in your house if you can, especially your Xbox Live. Turn off your router and leave it off for about an hour then turn it back on again and try playing, but if all else fails and you say it is only MW2 this happens to then the only thing left is probably get a new disc.
It's quite a weird one hope you get it solved

The only other thing I can think of is possibly the wireless adaptor
?I have a Belkin F5D8631-4 and I'm pretty sure its an 'N' router so I might go out and buy the new Wireless 'N' Adaptor and see if that makes any difference, beyond that and my other suggestions I am clueless. |
