Default Dedicated Servers

Hi guys,
Will we be seeing dedicated servers in the future of MW2? Or is it IWnet all the way?

Think critically about why we have IWnet.

TBH.I do not have the slightest clue. Please inform me?Isn't it IWnet that causes all those "unable to migrate host" etc. problems. And once i get that message my router's NAT type goes to strict,Why is this?
Sorry it must be a noob question obviously, but I do not know.

Your a bit late to the game. Theres already been a massive uproar over dedicated servers just check the Infinity Ward forums and see for yourself.

I myself doubt very much we will see Dedi's without having to mod the game. Just live with it until something better comes along in a couple of months

My thought process went like this when I paid this issue a bit of attention.

Who had the power to ruin the PC version? - IW
What do IW ultimately seek to do? - Make money
Since IWnet homogenises PC and console versions, what are IW able to do with console versions that allow them to make money that can't be done on PC? - Map packs and paid DLC.

True but seeing as they aimed the game at the console market where they get a lot more sales than the PC they dont give sh!t about us. Which is why we got a console port and all its problems. They money they lost from the PC market wont cause them to lose sleep at night and I would be surprised if they even release the next COD on PC.

Well, that makes sense. But I think it blows.I mean FPS shouldn't even be a console game.

There is also a 250~ thousand signed petition.

Not to mention, probably due to PC users not wanting to pay for a "POS", MW2 in just two months became the most pirated game of 2009 with over 5 million illegal copies on the PC.

Now that's 5 million people that may have paid for the game had IW, at no cost to itself, left the MP structure the same as COD, COD2, COD4, COD:WaW.

Even if only a fifth of those bought it, that's still a £40 MILLION loss of income. To put that into perspective that is around a quarter of the entire number of copies sold in all of America on day 1, likely including pre-orders.

This is getting repetitive.

And a side effect of shitloads of people not buying the game is that they will not have the game to buy the DLC for. Meaning the whole IWNet was pointless in the first place.

Ain't life grand?

Which bit of it is a lie? The only bit that, as far as I am aware assuming "the press" is vaguely correct, could be false is the interpretation of how many PC users would have bought - not pirated - the game had it had dedicated servers, a command console, etc.

I have thoroughly adjusted numbers to say "if ___ people bought it, that would be ___" thus I can not be too far wrong.

Most people pirate games because they don't want to shell out in the first place and use piracy to gain access to what is, to them, a free service. In this case, a free service that they only take advantage of because it's free. A small number of that 5,000,000 would buy the game and an even smaller number would play multiplayer.

Plus how many of those people out there downloaded more than one pirated copy as the first didn't work. It would be very difficult to calculate an accurate answer to how much this affects lost sales.

Even so they probably did lose a shit load of money from the PC side due the dedi problem

But they don't care because they made so much off the consoles.

I agree with ViS (go figure ), people who pirate aren't doing it to "take a stand" against a game. They are just cheap, and don't wanna spend money. lol
