I've been playing CoD MW2 for about a month and today I woke up to play a bit before school. I played the night before and everything was fine. I got on a server and I was immediatly kicked and it said "Cheat Detected" "Temporarily Banned". I came back hope after school, did a system restore, and still said Cheat Detected.

No, I do not use cheats. I just reinstalled the video game and it still says when I start playing a game, Cheats Detected, Temp ban. What should I do?

Oh, just read if you got dropped in a hacked server you will be banned. Great idea Infinity Ward... No dedicated servers....

Also some programs that have an overlay (plenty of legit stuff like xfire, media center, even steam OR real hacks) get classed as cheats. If you use FRAPs in particular try uninstalling it.

Also, any indication of how long the temp ban is for? The ban will be on ya profile, IP, GUID etc not your "files", so even though you've removed it (by doing a sys restore) you could still be on hour 48 of the 72 hour ban for example.

LOL @ Temp ban for cheating too... That is a little bit silly, a temp ban may as well be no ban if hacker can one day play again... no incentive not to cheat at all really. If your hack works, yay, if not you get a temporary ban...

Your not randomly banned, you were banned for cheating and are looking for a way out of it.

I work for an online games company and I detect and ban cheaters, particularly bot users. The detection methods are very accurate and with human observation do not make mistakes. What I have found is that cheaters will try and say just about anything to get out of their bans and this is a very typical example of this.

On a side note people do not get banned for randomly joining a cheat server. If that were the case these scum-bags would be setting up servers like this just to trick people and get them banned, because that is the kind of thing that members of cheating communities enjoy doing.

My advice is to wait out your ban and don't cheat next time, it's people like you that cannot play with skill without needing to cheat that spoils online FPS games. I only wish your ban was permanent :P

Thanks for your idiotic post nipple face but I really didn't cheat. Was unbanned after deleting FRAPS. Go lick some nuts.

May I ask which company? Presumably it's not PB since you said detection methods are accurate and equally it can't be VAC since you used "ban" in the present tense as if you do it regularly

This is interesting though because PB certainly does not use "human observation" but "human observation" although hideously expensive (hiring people forever vs the cost of software) that may account for why VAC seems to suck at "detecting" cheats but quite swift to ban anyone who is reported.

Most of the effective cheat software i've seen has been on modded servers, generally Promod, provided by a third party which isn't PB.

any program that provides an overlay has the potential to get you banned on a false-positive. Of course hacks use overlays, but some innocent programs that can get you banned are: Windows Media Center, FRAPs, xFire, ASUS ROG OC'ing utility.

Make sure minimal programs are running when you try to play.

And ironically, the fact that he is lying, shows why that guy got banned. If there were people "watching", he wouldn't of got banned because it would be blatantly obvious that he had done nothing wrong. The lobby probably would have been detected almost immediately also.

Go into your Steam settings and there you should be able to see your VAC status. "In good standing" means you're not banned.

If that was true then there would be no players left on PC.

Fact: You do NOT get banned for joining hacked lobbies.

VAC simply does not work that way. Only the person who is the host can & will get banned.

If you're banned, something you ran on your machine caused it. Note that VAC bans are delayed.

Yea. Or if you are in a hacked server, the host leaves, and you get put as host. Don't ask me how that works but it happened to a friend.

The only sensible thing that you can do is either contact Activision or wait out the temporary ban until it no longer applies. A few people I know has had this happen to them, and some of them were able to contact Activision and get their account restored.
