Well, we bought 3 different copies of COD MW2 and installed it on 3 different pc's. When we create a party, we all are in the party, but when we pick a game it will never put us in the same game. The host of the party will join a game, but the other 2 screens are different. Sometimes it will get 2 people in a game, but not all 3. On the rare occasion we are all in the same game. We all have the same IP, does that effect this problem? If you know anyway to help, please answer.
Thanks. |

Happens to me all the time, LAN, over the internet, whatever. One of us tends to get dumped into a different game, or just fail to get into a game together. I have noticed it being more temperamental over LAN, though.
If there really is a solution, I'd like to know it myself. All I have now is "dedicated servers", but that's somewhat impractical.

yeah this is more a "description of what happens when you play MW2" than a "description of a problem only happening to a few people." Unfortunately there is little you can do.
You could try connecting each PC to the party via a different port. To do this (better instructions can be found using the search feature) right click > properties on the MW2 shortcut and add "set netport xxxxx" to the of the "target" of the shortcut. xxxxx is the port you wish to connect via (can't remember the ports COD uses. Is probably very different to the ports other COD games use since you're connecting to multiple computers each game not just 2 or 3 dedi servers)

Can't for the life of me find the post i was looking for and I'm hilariously rusty regarding commands etc for COD games so I'm 100% sure "set netport" won't work, more likely to have a +set and an underscore in it somewhere. Nevertheless I did have another idea.
It's a bit of a long shot but you could try a bit of 3rd party port forwarding. What this will do is open up known ports needed for gaming and other high performance online uses etc. As a side effect it may also make your NAT "moderate" as opposed to strict. Visit portforward.com (IIRC) and follow what I've been told are fairly easy instructions once you pick your router by make & model.

Wow, we got this new way of doing it and works almost all the time now. Say we are gonna play sabotage, one person joins a game and then the other 2 go into steam and click join game on the person that joined the sabotage at the same moment they clicked sabotage. The only problem is we are on different teams, but that can be very fun too.
