just finished upgrading to a quad-core BE 965 and 4gig ram, hoping to kick up my fps in games.
ok, MW2 showed a significant increase in fps, as i'd hoped. :-) my Logitech G15 has a "performance monitor" which claims to show the cpu and ram usage in real-time. i noticed that according to this monitor, i was only using around 23% cpu uitilization, and around 30-some for the ram. logical question, therefore, is whether or not MW2 is really using quad - or any multi-core processor - properly, or is the G15's monitor INaccurate? did some googling but found no real answers? thanks, CD |

I couldn't find anything either. Not a lot of info out there about IW4.0 engine unfortunately
Doesn't the windows task manager processor tab show per core usage? Could be different in Vista or Windows 7, never used 'em. Or it may just show per processor - not core... Either way, good old procmon.exe should show it. EDIT: If you're not familiar with procmon, and there's no easy way on whatever flavour of Windows your run to find out the core usage, try this (if you have Vista I guess): http://www.gadgetsforvista.net/compo...173/Itemid,27/ Last edited by Nibbles; 02-21-2010 at 08:44 AM. |

I've played two SpecOps missions and it showed a maximum CPU utilisation of 58% on a quadcore machine (according to CoreTemp, Phenom II 955 3.2 GHz), so MW2 uses at least two cores, but I'm not sure whether it actually uses all four cores.
