Default Problem getting into online games

I can hook up to IWNet no problem. however, when I try to get into a TDM game (or any game) I can't, and the counter at the bottom of the screen is showing 0 players on-line. Any ideas? I was playing last night without any issues, so I not sure what the issue is at all.

Many thanks

I'm having exactly the same problem and I'm losing the will to live.

Been playing MW2 since release day with no problems. Suddenly it won't put me into any multiplayer games. It sits there telling me it's searching for available games, and I can leave it 20 minutes or more with nothing else happening. Occasionally, another entry appears, but it just says "matched player", and then this entry soon disappears, often with the lobby closing.

Strangely, I can often get a FFA or TDM game, but if I try any other game types - no joy.

I've set up a static IP address and opened all the right ports, tried it with strict NAT and open NAT, router firewall on and off, software firewall on and off - I'm just out of ideas. Why would it find some game types and not others? It's been like this for two weeks - you can't tell me that whatever time of day or night, every day for two weeks solid, all matches have been constantly full.

The only change to my system has been a new graphics card, but I don't think the problem started at exactly the same time, and I can't see the link anyway.

Can anyone suggest anything other than reinstalling the game? Even that probably won't make a difference but it's about the only thing I haven't tried. How would I keep my profile if I reinstall?

Aaarrrggh!

Andy

I logged in and out of steam and now I can get into some of the other games, but not TDM. It's a great game, but what an utterly retarded system.

Yup...

Exactly same problem here. No problem connecting IWN, but when trying to find a game, none just simply won't come up. Starting from <50 ms, and finally without latency limit - but no games show up.

Have tried to restart steam etc. but no help. Guess we'll just have to wait...

Im also keen on an explaination on why this is a happening and a fix would be gladly appreciated, as i know you all will.

Greetings

Sony: Stop Playing Older PS3s Until Bug is Fixed
03.01.10

1Comment
by Mark Hachman

Sony said Monday that the company has confirmed that a date glitch has prevented users of older PlayStation 3s from connecting to the PlayStation Network. Sony also warned users to stop playing the affected consoles, or risk losing data.

The issue surfaced over the weekend, and Sony said it had begun addressing the problem. Users also discovered that the newer "slim PlayStation 3s were not affected, which Sony confirmed Monday.

But the bug may persist for up to 24 hours, Sony said, and Sony said warned users not to try and use the console because of the risk of losing data.

In a statement, Sony confirmed that customers have been unable to connect to the PSN, and that the issue "affects the models other than the new slim PS3," the company said.

"We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system," Sony said.

Associated errors may include the date of the PS3 system may be reset to Jan. 1, 2000.

Sony also warned that users may see a variety of error messages. When the user tries to sign-in to the PlayStation Network, the following message may appear on the screen: "An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)". A similar error code may appear when the user attempts to set the date and time via the Internet, Sony said.

The issue also affects the "trophy" achievements within the PS3. When the user tries to launch a game, Sony said, an error message may appear on the screen and the trophy data may disappear, Sony said. Th error message reads: "Failed to install trophies. Please exit your game."

Users may also not able to play back video downloaded from the PlayStation Store before the rental date expires. Earlier, PCMag.com editor Sean Carroll reported that the glitch had affected his ability to connect to the Netflix service via his PS3; neither Sony nor Netflix confirmed the bug at press time.

But Sony added that until the company could fix the problem, users should find another way of entertaining themselves. "We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours," the company said. "In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data."

Netflix also confirmed that the problem was affecting its services as well.

Editor's Note:This story was updated at 11:42 AM PT with additional details from Sony and Netflix.

I got used to that months ago.

Seriously. This is why I've only played 3 hours of MW2 in the past 2 weeks.
