Default Really bad frame rate on select maps

Hi everyone I have a quick question, I get really bad frame rate on select maps like afgan and wasteland but other maps work just fine for me. Changing graphics settings and resolution seems to have no effect.

Like I said I run other maps and other games on much higher settings and have no problems. I dont mind making the graphics look horrible as long as its a smooth online experience so any advice would be great.

Heres the specs on my laptop its a Studio XPS 16 Notebook

Intel Core i7 820QM 1.73GHz (3.06GHz Turbo Mode, 8MB Cache)
8GB, DDR3, 1333MHz 2 Dimm
ATI Mobility RADEON HD 4670 1GB
16.0 inch Wide Screen 16:9 1080p Full HD RGBLED LCD, W/2.0 MP, XPS 1645
Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit

If you're playing at 1920*1080, using "Anti Aliasing" or have a DDR2 version of the 4670 then it's quite possible that the GFX card just isn't powerful enough to produce the FPS you need at the settings you'd like. That's a very nice specced laptop but the CPU, RAM and screen are a long way ahead of the GFX card in terms of performance.

It is also probably no coincidence that you experience the lag on the two most open and graphically intensive maps.

The thing is I turned the anti aliasing (and all other effects) off I put all my settings to low and I had my resolution at 800x600 at one point and that still didn't fix the frame rate on those maps.

But your saying the graphics card is the weak link of my setup?

Yeah, laptop CPUs have come on a long way but laptop GFX cards absolutely suck. A top of the range $4000 laptop is owned by a $180 desktop GFX card in gaming - with the added advantage that the desktop doesn't switch off after an hour

Use something like FRAPs or Xfire to verify the FPS difference when you turn every single setting down. 1920*1080 is pushing it a lot for a normal 4670, nevermind a desktop one. I'd just like to know for certain that changing settings don't make a difference - thus eliminating the GFX card.
