My friend updated his vista to Windows 7. Now everytime he tries to start Cod the picture comes up, but before mw2 opens up he gets the message Directx has encountered an unrecoverable error.
I checked all of his setting and upgraded all software. There is nothing left on the computer i can update now. I checked his directx, its fully updated directx 11 it says, no update available.
Windows updater and msconfig is all maxed out.
Does anybody know how to fix this problem?

i found that some game demos - BC2 and possibly Avatar - are installing
versions of directx 11 which may be out-of-date?

i went to microsoft.com/downloads and downloaded the directx11 redistributable exe - dxwebsetup.exe - and
ran that to get directx 11 back up to snuff.

First of all, make sure you have the latest GPU drivers installed. If you do, you can try rolling them back 1 version and see if it makes a difference.

After that, try a re-install or at least verify the game cache (MW2 MP -> properties -> local files -> verify integrity of game cache).

Some hardware information could be useful.
