Hi,

Yesterday I was playing MW2 online in Team Deathmatch and getting my butt kicked by more seasoned players, so I decided to switch to one of the other modes open to a Newbie like me.

So I went for Free-For-All, made sure that I had changed the movement controls (I use the 4 directional arrows to move rather than W, A. S & Z) - I spawned into the Wastleland map ... and was frozen to the spot. With the mouse, I was able to move my sights up and down and able to shoot at some figures in the distance heading towards me. But I could not go forward, backwards, sideways, duck, go prone, etc - I was a sitting duck out there and got wasted.

I checked the keyboard, tried to spawn into another map where the same thing happened. I then went back into a Team Deathmatch game and here I had complete free movement as before. Back in Free-For-All, I was again frozen to the spot.

Anyone know why this is please and if it is something to do with me ?

I have downloaded and installed the game through STEAM, single player modes work fine, I have no time out issues with other multiplayer games modes and a stable and fast broadband connection. My keyboard is a Logitech G11, PC uses 4GB RAM, Core i5 CPU and ATI RADEON HD 5870 Graphics card.

Obviously sounds like the keyboard, but I'm guessing that you wrote that with it so it seems fine.

Try binding your movement keys to other keys. And see if you get the same problem in any other games.

Other than that, try moving the keyboard to other USB slots. It probably won't make much difference but you never know.

Did you maybe pressed ¸ (button who is below esc) Did you try to press esc,or try to reset game.

Actually, I thought it was the keyboard, so I did exactly what you said, used a different usb port and then even tried my old PS/2 keyboard - made no difference ... I should try the other modes in MW2 apart from Team Deathmatch and Free-For-All to see if this freezing issue occurs anywhere else ... weird

I have a feature on my Logitech keyboard where with the flick of a switch, I can disable all the Windows keys so I do not accidentally hit one of them during gameplay.
As far as resetting goes, I exited the game several times, but, correct me if I'm wrong, I could not actually see a way where you can select which server to join (or is there) so I kept on trying to join the same one .. maybe there was a problem with the host or the map, etc

One thing I forgot to mention was that the ownership of the map appeared to switch several times ... every couple of seconds to another player ... is this related do you think to the problem I was having in the Wasteland map on Free-For-All ?

Yep, this is a PC bug, it happened to me yesterday in Domination and a bunch of guys in the match were complaining that it had happened to them before.

It would appear there's nothing you can do about it short of leaving the game.

Thanks Dante ... looks like it was just a glitch - just finished a full Free-For-All match in the Scrapyard and, well ... I was the one with the target on my back ... !!!
