Default Broken blueray drive = deleted data?

So, my blueray stopped working. I called up technical support and they said to restore default settings, hold the button down, and then to DELETE MY DATA.

Still doesn't work. But, my question is: When I deleted my data, does it delete my online account(MW2)? It would make sense to me that it's saved on a server or something.

I'm new to the whole online gaming thing. Also new to the forum. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Welcome to the forum

I believe that yes, you did just delete your game data and that would include your MW2 stats unfortunately. That's if it works the same way as COD4 though, which is quite likely.

I'm surprised that Sony didn't tell you to back-up your important game data to a USB drive or similar before doing it.

umm i thought all cod stats and so on are kept by infinity ward.

when my first ps3 broke i lost all game saves and so on, but once i put my online account stuff in all my CoD stuff was still there at the same level as before. i'm not sure if this is still true though.

All your online account info should be stored online. I don't think the PS3 keeps your online data for MW2. The gamedata on PS3 is for installs and SP.

^^^ I'm pretty sure this is correct, I had to restore my factory defaults a while back and that wiped the Ps3 completely but I still had my online progress. Otherwise you could keep starting again online if you didn't like the way your KDR was going.....
