Ok, so i went into matchmaking on mw2 in pc and chose ground war, then matchmaking sent me to domination on terminal, but it wasn't domination, it was some f'd up modded and hacked, straight to level 70 server, wich totally destroyed my gaming expirienc. Before the game i was level 67 no prestige, but when i left the game i was level 70 no prestige and almost all of my attachments for every gun was gone and so was the camo for them, i am freaking out right now because of this and i really need help!! Please, i have to get mw2 back to the way it was!!

Nothing you can do. Except play this game on console where it is a more pure experience.

This happened to me too..several times now. These lobbies boost you to 70. I'd say prestige and start over. It sucks, but its probably gonna happen to you again.

As an edit: One of these lobbies increased the size of minimap like 10x the normal size and its been that way ever since. I cant even see anything in the upper left portion of me screen anymore. Try gaming with only part of a screen!

As others have said there is very little you can do, I appreciate that it is a bit annoying to be bumped up to level 70. On the plus side, you can prestige & get an extra class rather than start over.

If you don't want to prestige and you want to start from P0 level 1 again then another downfall of MW2 & Steam is that this, once a very simple task, is much more complicated. You have to make steam "lose" your rank for it to therefore reset you to level 1. You can usually lose your rank by pulling the internet cable out or quiting steam whilst it's "syncronising" with steam.


That's ironic, since it's consoles and tyhe related demographic that has caused COD to turn from a "pure" FPS to one where skill is replaced by skill-compensating-perks, 100 foot shotguns & computer-controlled killstreaks getting you 10 kills.

You probably mean "pure" as in a lower vunerability to hackers etc. Whilst the PC is definitely more vunerable, whether a game is hack infested or not on the PC depends on the anti-cheat software. In that respect steam & IWnet failed VERY badly and we realise that actually PunkBuster was very good...

Console is a very good (only?) option for games that are either unpopular or don't have dedi servers, minimum interferance (but remember, some interferance can be great, e.g. promod, free maps, new gametypes, fixing bugs that developers don't etc, although hackers obviously ruin a game) but you also loose key benefits such as a control system that actually rewards skill.

Sorry for the late reply but I just saw this post. Try this:

You could try this (from the steam forum):

Lost Multiplayer stats or rank
If you have recently lost stats or rank in this game, you may be able to recover this information as outlined:

Go to the Steam folder and find the Modern Warfare 2 install folder
Default location: C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2\
Open the \players\ folder
The multiplayer profile is updated regularly as a .stat file and also includes a backup file.
All original profile files begin with md202ef8d and backup files will begin with md202ef8d.bak
Locate the profile and backup .stat files with the most recent "Date Modified" listed in Windows
Move the profile .stat file to a new location (Creating a new folder and placing it here should be fine)
Rename the backup .stat file and remove the ".bak" from the filename
Launch Steam and re-test this game.

That sounds fantastic. I almost want to go through the annoyance of being unwillingly rank-hacked to try this out!

If I cba, which is unlikely given how busy life is atm, I'd try this. You could just look at your XP before and after to verify it...
