Exclamation please help with speed/connection

hi,

basically my internet is constantly giving me shit... it runs sooooooo slowly but without displaying lag. i know this because if i empty a magazine into someone and then they just kill me, and in the kill cam i havent even started shooting yet... or i go to stab someone and they get stabbed but nothing hapopens and then they turn around and stab me....

my connection is approximatly 2.2Mb download and 0.7 download...is this really bad??

also takes me foreeeeeeeeeeeeever to actually join a game - it sits looking for games till the end of the world!

does anyone know why is so gay??

That speed is fine. Ping is what really determines quality.

Basically, refer to this thread, which I guess is how you found us.

Unfortunately besides running a ping test (which will explain why you lag) then feeling sorry for yourself, there's not a lot you can do.

haha i try not to feel sorry for myslef -i just want it to be fixed so i can ENJOY it!!

my ping is apparently about 35-40ms?.. is that good?

i play cs on pc also and then it says my ping is about 50-60 also?...

is this particularly bad??

You'll notice that as well as ping, pingtest.net tests jitter & packet loss.

Unfortunately there is very little you can do, if indeed anything. For a good gaming experience you need to have a sufficient connection speed, a low ping, low jitter and no packet loss. On top of that - with no dedicated servers you now also have to pray that the host has a low ping, low jitter and no packet loss.

The unit for ping is ms (milliseconds) so 100ms is a 0.1 second delay from your game showing you do something to the server realising you did it - in regards to "is #ms good". If your ping to the server you're on is over 100ms then you can start to notice it, if it's over 200ms (that's 2 bars or less in mw2 ping measurement) then it will really start to be detrimental to your gameplay.

sorry - one other thing - do you know why i can join games no prob if i go to freinds, go across then click on any recent person playwed with and choose "join session in prgoress", but i can sit for ever and not "find" a game??!!...
