Default Mw2 Crashing the system

Hi,

recently, when i play mw2, after around 10-20 minutes, my computer would crash. What could possibly be the issue? Is my computer over heating?

My PC specs:
Windows XP 32 Bit (I also encountered the problem on Vista 32 bit, and Windows 7 32 bit)
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 @2.33GHz
4GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/GTX+

Temperature:
CPU: BEFORE - 45 Celsius DURING MW2 - 54 Celsius
GPU: BEFORE - 42 Celsius DURING MW2 - 56 Celsius

Very likely overheating. That's a fairly weak CPU for what MW2 demands.

He can run the game just fine I bet.

Overheating is the most likely problem. Lets do the maths:

Quad core + BIG GPU + Summer + Shitload of dust = HEAT.

System specs are more than adequete to wtf-pwn a Call of Duty console port. I too would initially suspect overheating, but 54 degrees celsius on the CPU is far from catastrophic, and 56 degrees celsius for a 9800GTX would be classed as mildly-outstanding.

What do you mean by "crash?"

BSOD?
PC restarts?
PC just switches off?
MW2 crashes to desktop?
PC freezes?

Thank you for all those quick replies.
What i mean by "crash" is that my comp would just turn off. Then i would have to manually turn off the comp.

I still don't really understand, unless you meant to write "ON" instead of "OFF" the second time.

Does this only happen during MW2 or does it happen in other games? If so, which games.

I still maintain all the sympotoms sound exactly like overheating (yeah, not "sound a bit like" but sound "exactly" like overheating) but I'd be suprised given the temperatures...

Is the GFX card OC'd? Did it come OC'd or did you DIY?

As a general hint, have you ever dusted the inside of ya OC? You'd be amazed how much dust can build up.
