Exclamation IWNet Connection Problem

Today when I tried to go on COD:MW2 (PC), after clicking play it says "connecting to IWnet" and does not connect or do anything.
I googled the Problem some people said that I need to enable it passed my firewall which I did a long time ago because I have been playing it for quite some time, last night being when I played it last.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Default Re: IWNet Connection Problem

I have encountered this issue on a sort of "one off" basis a few times, just when IWnet is very busy (for example on release day) or the internet is having a "bad day" (packet loss, slow download speed etc) Not being able to connect at all (i.e. ever) suggests that your firewall (or routers built in firewall or NAT) is simply not allowing traffic to pass through the port needed to connect to IWnet. However if you say it used to work, then obviously something has changed (new ISP, new router, new internet settings from ISP, new AV/firewall software etc)

Bizzarely I managed to replicate your exact issue with 100% reliability and accuracy by adding the required ports to the ALLOW ACCESS LIST on my firewall. This is truely baffling, and as a result I have had to give permission to individual programs (i.e. MW2) NOT individual ports.

Anyway, here are the ports needed for MW2, try adding them to your firewall's "allow all outbound/inbound" (or however your brand of firewall words it) list:

UDP 1500 (outbound)
UDP 3005 (outbound)
UDP 3101 (outbound)
UDP 28960 (full)

So, you can double check that those ports (those are the specific ports needed for MW2, not steam) are open as specified. You could also go a step further and make sure your NAT is blocking those ports by visiting portforward.com, picking your router, picking your game and then following the instructions. This is a wild stab in the dark really and is a fairly "last option" solution BUT if anything makes it instantly work it'll be forwarding your ports.

COD owner - COD expansion pack owner - COD2 owner - COD2: BRO player - COD3 owner - COD4 owner - COD:WaW owner - COD: MW2 owner - COD: BO owner

This is getting repetitive.
