Well I, like many of you experience LAG, but although there are thousands of explanations (all over the web). I have been troubleshooting this thing for months. I have been through 2 routers, 2 modems, maybe I need a new PS3! I have the older bulkier one.
According to Speedtest.net, I have a "B" rating 63 ping, 1.6 upload, and 17 mps download. I have Roadrunner (Brighthouse) as my ISP. The jitter rating was 6 and the packet loss "could not be done" for unknown reasons. Its getting old playing games going 1 and 10, or 3 and 11. Used to be about 1 for 1 for the longest time. So I had my buddy come over and he is about a 2 for 1 kdr guy. He went 0 and 8 a couple of times. Nothing like firing a whole magazine into someone while aiming down the sight, in their back, only to have them turn around while I reload and get shot and killed with one burst. I try to camp, (which I hate) in order to compensate, but it still doesn't work. On the killcam, there is about 2.5 seconds of delay; on my end I am already aiming down the sight and fire on the unsuspecting foe. His replay has him walk around the corner, sight me up, fire a short burst and keep rolling. Brand new CAT6 cables replaced the constant kick outs but nothing can help this? I searched the forums and all the responses seem to have no solution. I concluded that Brighthouse sucks, and they have a contract locking all of us poor city residents to only their crappy services. So I decided to fly this thread up the flagpole and see who salutes. Should I just replace the PS3? Its the only variable I haven't attempted yet. |

Poor line quality most likely. Give your ISP a ring, and they'll send someone out to take a look.

If you've replaced all your hardware (except your PS3 and frankly that's not likely to be the issue), it's got to be your ISP.

Well no! It's not your ISP it's your connection. There is a difference, a "B" spec line won't do well on data intensive games like MW2, you need an "A" spec line (speedtest spec), packet loss is a big issue. It's probably due to "noise" on an old copper line. Are you plugged in or are you wireless internet?
