I think Modern Warfare 3 is going to use a new engine, because the Ghost spinoff is supposed to use MW2 engine. This article Modern Warfare 3 Rumored Release Date | Modern Warfare 3 says the game is coming out on November 11, 2011. 11/11/11 sounds like something Activision would try to capitalize off of. With there being three developers for the game I hope they make some major changes since the last few titles have remained the same.

If you read that article they dismiss any fact twice, admitting that quote: "this is all speculative." Also another inaccurate gem from the same site: "Modern Warfare 3 will pick up where Modern Warfare 2 left off, and will take place around the World War 2 era." source]

Interesting thought though since it's just a many-times reworked version of the COD 1 engine. Whilst you'd think it's about time for a new engine, it's the game engine that is core to why COD games (before you mess up balance and MP lobbies etc) play so well. Whilst other engines, the ones used for the console version of BC2, FC2 and MOH etc, are newer and have more advanced visuals none "play" like the COD engine.

Don't know if you got that, but it's three developers as in three seperate studios. It's rumoured to be Raven on the MP aspect, with the remnants of IW supported by Sledgehammer on the SP part.

About the engine part of the game. They better not change it. If CoD becomes anything like BC2 or any of these other average FPS games that have been released recently that were supposed to "kill" Call of Duty, I certainly will not be buying them(I play BC2 rarely, before eventually ending up back on CoD after about 30 minutes usually)

I can't play BC2... it's too realistic. I love CoD, no matter how much it pisses me off. I'm hoping that due to the lack of IW in multiplayer, it'll play well. Raven's the one that worked on the new DLC maps for Blops, right? I guess I'll get those as a barebones "test" of how Raven can add to the CoD series.

I think they'll be handed the core multiplayer code to work with; and they can work from there. It would take more than 2 years to get a multiplayer component working - that is, from the ground up. As in, from scrap.

I just hope it doesn't show up in MP. To me the whole folding machine gun would feel out of place due to the fact that the whole purpose behind the thing is to be concealable and in MP your not fooling anybody with trying to hide something like this. In single player I can see it being thrown in for some missions though.

Edit: Oh god! What have they done! The FMG-9 is basically a folding G-18.
