COD3 was what got me into playing multiplayer online, I played COD2 and it was all well and good but it just can't replace those summer nights playing multiplayer with my best friend who also got into the fps genre with COD3. Cod3 was a great game in my opinion, sniping is still better than in MW and WaW. Cod4 on the other hand is just pure perfection (for the time) and I can only hope CODMW2 blows it out of the water.

I'm going with COD3 on this one even though I'm more of a MW vet. It just set the tide for all my fps gaming to come.

I would have to say COD3 as well, because it was the first game i remember completing twice, and never lending it to a friend cause I loved it so much.

Ive got COD and COD2 installed on my pc and i'm playing through them, but I still enjoyed COD3 more than I am with them.

this. cod4 was actually my first fps, so i had it for 6 months playing only campaign (yea, it took 6 months for it to finally get old) until i finally got XBL.

Call of Duty 4.

I have never booked as many hours on any game as I did MW (even more than a P5 and a P3 on WaW). It's so fun and I still play it many an hour on weekends and suck as much time as I can on weekdays.

I love both CoD2 & Cod4 the same, but I love 4 a lil' tad more because of it's STILL(IMO) best overall online mode, even thou it pisses me the hell off to the point I snapped it's disc in half, WHAT A F*CKING AWSOME GAME IT IS! the whole CoD series is awsome actually.

I agree overall COD4 is the most popular game, but hold up a minute, where the hell did all this love for COD3 come from?!?!

It is AWFUL compared to COD2. As usual the story and missions were nice, but the physics, graphics, weighting of controls and general control system* was awful.


*I am comparing PS COD3 with PC COD2, so perhaps if all you know is analogue digital sticks then maybe COD3's control and physics system wasn't as horrible as it was for me, coming from a perfectly weighted PC game.

Modern Warfare. I had CoD2 but I was never any good at it (being pretty young at the time) and kinda shelved it to play PS2 FPS and PC MMOs.

It was CoD4 that really got me into PC FPS. I recently when back to CoD2 for a bit, and whilst it was pretty fun, I couldn't help but return to MW.

Yeah once you get used to CoD4, no other online FPS compares, after CoD4 I went back to BF2 was fun but went back CoD4, went back to F.E.A.R. short while went back to CoD4, UT3, FC & FC2 even Crysis, no point CoD4 just beats all of them(I played Halo 2 as well, didn't like it :P)

I have played all Cod games for the Sony consoles to date. I can easily say, Modern Warfare is my favorite.

Obviously, it helps with it being the first COD game released on PS3.

My favorite Call of Duty so far has been Modern Warfare followed very closely by Call of Duty 2. However, after that, it's a long while before I liked any other COD game.

COD4 is the best in the COD series so far. The only thing I didn't like about it was that nearly all of the standard maps were very small. I used to love playing CTF in COD United Offensive. The maps were fantastic. Some of the big open maps were great for sniping.

IMO CoD4 maps are a pile of shites compared to some other online multiplayer maps, +30 - 50 players servers on PC are unplayable because of the spam of everything, I love the rest thou

It has to be COD3. As undeniably amazing as MW is, COD3 had much more impact on me. It was with that game that i first got into gaming in any kind of competitive manner, and it was the game in which my clan first got started, through which i have met some truly awesome people. So, whether it is technically flawed or not, it will always be my favorite. I still go back and play it occasionally, and i probably still will even after MW2 comes out. But i guarantee that i'll never play the original MW again.
