Most likely. Just disable it while you play, and make sure you're not doing anything else.

Sounds like it could be disabling it may fix that, also have you updated PB ?

AS much as I hate martydom and Juggernoobs, I find these things are less aggravating that the most aggravating things on MW2 (quite eloquent vocabulary I must say)

Had to manually update it but yeah it is updated.


I'll have to redownload Xfire. I had to disable the ingame community thing for steam though because Punkbuster kept kicking me for something involving bad drivers or something lol... according to a google search for some reason it reacts funny to the ingame steam setup.

Does anyone know of a good free antivirus that doesn't cause FPS hiccups in CoD4? Using AVG now. I'd just rather not have to disable it is all.

I use McAfee myself, but it's mainly down to personal preference.

Bear in mind that you can always "acquire" a proper Anti-virus.

Tried adding the Steam directory to AVG's exception list. See if it helps I guess.

Didn't help. Tried disabling AVG's Resident Shield, still stuttering. Starting to look like I just need to uninstall my AV lol


Edit:

OK I uninstalled AVG... still stuttered. I disabled Spybot's utility... still stuttered. I disabled Windows Defenders resident protection.... still stuttered. Then I brought up the task manager while in game to see if anything was acting cooky, and the weird thing is that after I brought the game back up it had stopped stuttering.

Did some reading around and it looks like most people point the finger at Punkbuster. I read something about a pb_sleep 500 command but it doesn't seem to do anything when I enter it into console?

I have seen 1 or 2 people using the M40 Acog since I have been playing. I generally see people Rocking the M21 or Draganov, I guess people just aren't as good at the game anymore, lol. I say this while I am using the M21 cause I'm going to go for the Golden Drag. After 3 days play time I have only the Drag and M21 to go!

Im gunna have to dig Cod 4 out again on PC, trouble is i now have a MAC so will have to work out a way to play it, cant be to hard.... blimmin XBOX has made me lazy.

@beasTer As soon as you enter a PB-enabled server on COD4, it seems to do a scan or something which causes a small amount of lag. However, it shouldn't last for more than 10 seconds or so into game.

I've played both games and I like mw2 more. I can't stand the poor graphics of cod 4. It's a fun game and all but the m16 red dot sight, the ak-47 and the mp5k is game breaking. I've got a little higher kdr on cod 4 and for me that game is way easier than mw2..

Lol wut. So the shotguns as secondaries, Commando, overpowered killstreak and the UMP aren't "game breaking" on MW2?
