If you are a mod, please consider this before you delete this thread: I was going to make this thread on C4F but that place is pretty much a ghost town now, i thought i would get a much better response on here.

Anyway, I don't often use SMG's and i have always thought that the P90 is the best. But I use it with the rds because the silencer will decrease distance and damage, and i noticed that the red dot moves up and down quite a lot when you fire. So i am having doubts about the P90 and am wondering if the others are better. So what SMG do you use and what perks/ attachments accompany it?

I normally use either the P90 or AK74. I find the AK74 more accurate but if it's firepower that's required, the P90 can't be beat.

I like the AK-74u, MP5, P90 roughly the same, but my one true favourite is the MP5, great damage, accurate at close & medium range, goes well with any attachment(maybe except the ACOG) but I really love it NAKED! with Bandolier + Stopping Power + Steady Aim.

My favourite SMG at the moment has to be the AK74U, been using it a lot recently and its well good on Hardcore Headquarters as I'm a hardcore player.
I usually use it with Silencer, Uav Jammer and Deadsilence, On one of todays matches I went 87-6 with that gun on Backlot. Well good gun. AK74U FTW.

I've been using SMGs for a VERY big portion of my CoD4 gameplay. I mainly switch off between the MP5 and the AK-74u, and although I do like them both, they have some big differences about them that cause me to use one or the other depending on the situation. Here's a comparison and contrast between the two weapons:

MP5

Pros
- Works well with attachments; stats are completely unaffected by them (except the silencer which decreases its maximum damage range as with any gun).
- No idle sway.
- Quick knife recovery and weapon switch.

Cons
- High/uneven recoil when aiming down sights.
- Little to no penetration of objects.


Ak-74u

Pros
- Lower recoil than the MP5 when aiming down sights.
- Penetration through both bodies and certain objects.

Cons
- Bad compatability with attachments; every single one of them will cause its hipfire accuracy redicule to expand to that of an assault rifle.
- Idle sway (though it's minimum and difficult to notice, not to mention unimportant as most of your battles should be taking place at a close to medium range).
- Slower knife recovery/weapon switching than the MP5.

Both guns have the exact same rate of fire, damage, range, mobility, and hipfire accuracy.

Overall, the MP5 exceeds the Ak-74u with attachments and knife recovery. However, the Ak-74u exceeds the MP5 in recoil and penetration. So if you can use a weapon effectively with its iron sights and without a suppressor, the Ak-74u is the best choice for you. However, if you feel you have the need to use a red dot sight or to silence your gun, the MP5 is the better choice.

I stopped using the Ak-74u and P90, and only use the MP5 now, I got 3 classes using the MP5:

Assault class:
Deadly against everything!
MP5 RDS, sometimes no attachements
3x frag (I hate nade spamming, so I only use this for clearing out buildings or when I'm sure there's enemies hiding behind cover)
Stopping Power!
Steady Aim or Extreme Conditioning
Silenced M9

Stealth class:
Tactical matches, or anti-snipers!
MP5 Silencer
Bomb Squad or 3x Special Nades
UAV Jammer
Dead Silence or Extreme Conditioning
Silenced M9

Class for dealing with spamming retards running around w/o any goals shooting whatever moves in front of them....
