Yep! I've lost my CoD4 case and the magical CD key within. I forgot to backup the CD key when I reinstalled my OS, meaning that the mpdata file won't work because the CD key I have spare is different!
And seriously, I don't want to go through the horse shit of getting to level 55 all over again, and even then losing my progress on getting the golden guns (this'd be the third time I've hit such a setback). So, I need help. Anybody know of a way to transfer the old mpdata file to a new CD key?

All I can tell you is that there is and I did it once. That should let you know that your search is not futile.

The internets say that the mp_data is dependent on the CD key. However I will copy/paste what relevant shit I could find regarding your issue. From some random pc forum, a guy asking if he could move his sons profile to a new PC with new copy of COD4.
"well, I personally have never tried this, but from what I've heard on a few other sites, the mpdata file IS dependent on the cd key. You could send the file over to the new computer, but then you would have to change the cd key for the new comp to that of the old comp. You'll both still be able to play the game, but you won't be able to play online at the same exact time. If you want to go ahead with this, For Windows Vista: Go to Start > and type regedit then hit enter. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Activision > Call of Duty 4 Find the entry codkey and double click on it For XP, do the same but go to Start > Run and type regedit then hit enter. Then do the rest the same way. I'd go ahead and copy and paste the key you see into notepad just for safety reasons. Next, you're going to replace that key with the old key. Now, I've heard you can close regedit and later replace the replacement key with the one you put in notepad and still have the old mpdata file in their and everything will be fine, but like I said, I personally have never tried this."
