for knife classes marathon, lightweight, and commando.

if you have a tac knife, i'd say use ninja pro instead.

^^this^^

Had M L C w tac knife and switched to Ninja

I do miss commando but the sneaking ability more than compensates for it.

go with a silenced ump as well and rack up some kills

side note I'm going for pathfinder at the mo as well. So using this class much more. Only have cold blooded on am anti air class.

For a knife class I use Marathon, Lightweight and Commando (for the teleporting powers and be able to jump from high places undamaged).

Well, it depends. Lightweight is mainly to get from point A to Point B as soon as possible. Cold-blooded is mainly for the kind of player who likes to lay back and take things a little slower. My clanmate and I always bicker over what is more important, Stealth (Ninja) or lunging distance (Commando), I myself can never find myself to use Ninja because, well... I don't need it. No one pays attention to footsteps except smart people who have common sense.
What I'm basically saying is that it depends on what kind of player you are. When I knife, I usually take the backroads and get them from behind, but I only use cold-blooded on few occasions, like when the enemy constantly calls in UAVs. Mostly I use Lightweight, but like I said, it depends on the kind of player you are. If you wanna charge right through the frontlines as soon as possible, go with lightweight and commando. If you like to sneak around or are just some reason paranoid of your own footsteps go with Cold-blooded and Ninja.

I hope this has helped you.

Even with the running footsteps they almost always dont even realize you are there b/c you lunge from so far away. So almost always commando>ninja if your knifing. Also use lightweight it will allow you to move fast enough that you get in knifing range before the hbs refresh lets them know you are on the way. It also lets you cover much more ground looking for targets or run them down from behind if they are moving.

In my opinion, using Cold-Blooded makes a knife class kind of pointless. The point of a knife class is to run, full speed and spam that knife button. You want to be swift, and powerful, with range, since the knife is primarily what you are using. So my advice is to use Lightweight instead of Cold-Blooded, since UAV's aren't a mandatory killstreak anymore.

As far as the debate between Commando and Ninja goes, it's all about what you are going for. Do you want to have maximum knifing range and no fall damage? Or would you rather trade off that range for silent footsteps and invisibility to Heartbeat Sensors?

Or why not combine the two, and be a fast, silent knife runner? Marathon, Lightweight, Ninja, with a silenced SMG?

TL;DR - For a pure knife class, use Lightweight and Commando. For a stealth knifing class, use Lightweight and Ninja. For a less effective, but pure stealth class, use Marathon, Cold-Blooded, and Ninja.

My guess, is that the quicker melee is suitable enough as a trade off from range, to silent footsteps.

If you have lightweight, then you're going to be running around faster and your dot on UAV will always be changing anyways and they still wont know where you are. So lightweight over coldblooded. Plus you can just charge at enemies faster.

I'd use commando over Ninja. If you use ninja, then yay, you don't show up on heartbeats and you cant be heard. But if you're using commando, then by the time they hear you or you show up on heartbeat, you should be in range of knifing them with commando. The +no falling damage helps a lot when running after people also.

If you have the class-slots free, both.

Lightweight for the main stuff, cold-blooded if you/your team is getting curbstomped by air support.

The melee range in this game without commando is too small to be useful, if you're running at your targets. Not to mention the nasty effects of lag on that damned auto-locking tac-knife stab. (Or any stab, for that matter)

Marathon. Lightweight. Commando. Tac knife.

I used ninja pro just to get the challenge. Commando was far superior to ninja. I always got more kills with commando than with ninja.

well it depends
if you run at the enemy, commando
if you go behind and flank, ninja

and if you know someone on the opposite has a HBS, use ninja.
