hey im having alot of trouble not ranking up(and i havent presteged yet).i need some tips on how not to die cause its getting to a point where i dont even play the game.please commit

It depends on what play style you are using, stay out of high traffic areas and pick the edges. Many people run into a skirmish w/o thinking it out. Use UAV killstreak and counter UAVthis will help you find more people and not be seen by others. Maybe find some people to play with and they can help you out during the game. I'm sure there are lots of people willing to help out a struggling player.

Get the silencer on the scar and on the spas and circle around behind and/or wait in high traffic areas to ambush. If you are dedicated you can get 2-3 minimum before you have to move/die.

Honesty it sounds like you haven't played alot yet, really when you play the maps more you will learn map awarness, and know what places are good to stand, when you should stop and check a corner, etc etc.

Also when you play more you'll get better and be able to kill the people that usually kill you. Your just suffering from being new to the game when everyone else has been playing it for months.

Like someone else said cold blooded and ninja with heartbeat sensor might give you an element of suprise over other players.

Just keep playing, when I first started I hardly went positive in matches. But keep moving, stay away from groups of enemies (or use an explosive) and move forward but cautiously

If you want, you can use a Heartbeat, but I find it kind of cheap and unrewarding. Just keep trying and don't give up, you'll get the hang of it eventually!

Don't be stupid. If you're dying a lot and can't figure out why, that's probably the part that you're struggling with.

Be paranoid and Don't Panic.

Also, use sound to help locate other players. Footsteps are a dead giveaway.

People are everywhere. Even when they're not.

Use stun and flashbang grenades. When you can see, and the enemy cannot, you have a neat advantage.

Smoke grenades are good for covering open ground, like in Estate.

If you end up in the enemy spawn alot, you can leave claymores about to cover your back.

Use low-end (UAV, Care Package, Counter-UAV, Predator, Sentry Gun) killstreaks at first. Once you get the hang of things, move onto the other ones. Or don't, because UAV and Counter-UAV are so damn awesome.

Don't use the HB sensor. At the very least, it's a distraction. At worst, it's a crutch that you rely on in place of better attachments.

Set your controls up correctly. Playing twister with your fingers while trying to avoid a frag grenade and 3 guys with machine guns is also known as "frustration" and "ow, my god-damn fingers"

Thermal and ACOG are useless on everything except sniper rifles, and -maybe- the ACR.

Try playing differently? Maybe the way you're playing isn't working for you.

Work on your classes. You're not giving any info on... well, anything. I'll just say that a FAMAS w/ ACOG is useless, for example. What classes are you using? I suggest using the TAR-21 w/ RDS (holographic when you get it), or FMJ/silencer if you get used to the iron sights.

Personally, TAR-21 w/ holographic is my favourite weapon. Clear sights, not much recoil, high firepower.

Scavenger: Scavenger is good, because being able to spam stun grenades is awesome.
Stopping Power: One less bullet needed to kill.
Steady Aim: No needs to ADS in CQC, and gives the gun a tight hipfire spread.

Good for general combat/rush/assault.

Oh, and finally, once the game starts, think about where the other players spawn, and try to imagine where they're likely to be in a few seconds time, when the fans start spinning and the shit starts flying.

If you camp and kill people w/o a silencer, you will get raped
then again...you will get raped if you camp in one place forver. always change your camping spot if you camp

Adding on to what Naga said, for many guns it depends on whether or not you like sights or not. I usually like red dot sight on any AR, but most of the irons work anyhow. The Tar is amazing with a silencer because its so powerful and the iron sights are great. You can try that too, if you want. But its entirely up to you; just keep experimenting and trying new things, and be very careful

Just keep playing a lot and you'll know the maps better and your aim will be better. Mabye try raising your sensetivity a litty just so it's still comfortable but you can target enemies quicker. Use the tactical button layout and try dropshotting if you want. That's helped me a lot.

And if you're not having fun, take a break. Playing when you're frutrated will only make you do worse.

Oh and pick a gun and class that works for you. Don't go by charts or other people's advice on guns.(only mine)

I just started playing a couple months ago and I struggled heavily at first. Most of my online playing time went to Halo 3, and I really underestimate the learning curve on MW2. Just keep at it. Even if you don't make a conscious effort to memorize the maps, they will become familiar if you keep playing. You'll learn the high traffic areas for each map, and if nothing else, you can stay away from those and try to keep the outer edges (then flank when the opportunity comes.) Get comfortable with one weapon. Most guides suggest sticking with the FAMAS for a while. Get those 25 kills and the red dot sight will make things easier for you. Use the stopping power perk to make things even easier. From there you can start to mess around with classes and playing styles. You should get an idea of what works for you. I found that I am an awful sniper, but pretty successful with a tactical run and gun approach.

edit: BTW, you're going to be really frustrated if your approach to MW2 is to not die. You are going to die. ALOT! There is no way around that. The point is to kill the other guy or help your team more than you die or more than you hinder your team. Just keep playing and the game will start to come to you naturally. The learning curve is dying. There's no way to skirt that. Don't let it frustrate you.

you're going to die. if dying makes you quit, then you'd never get good at this game. you have to just play play play to get good, as well as watch youtube videos.
learn the maps. learn the hotspots, learn the ways people don't go. MAKE YOUR STRATEGIES!!

Take it slow, camp until getting more comfortable to run around, don't use Scrambler, use Cold Blooded at first, silence your weapon.
