Default Where is your profile stored?

In COD4 you could save your profile so if you had to re-install the game you could past your old profile over the new profile and be at the level you were before.

I cant find a profile for MW2. Is it saved on your steam account? If you re-install will you be able to pick back up where you left off or will you have to start over again.

Of course this is for a pc.

Thanks

Nice answer he's talking about PC, if you don't know how it works on PC, don't post to get your count up.

i'm not posting to get my post count up, it can
A) Maybe be right for the PC and the PS3 and the XBOX360. its very possible
and B) might help anyone who was wondering this question for the PS3.

i know your intentions.

Yes, i could see that but maybe hold the reins and resist posting on every thread, since this was specifically designed to apply to PC.

It's supposed to be automatically backed up via Steam Cloud, however it is not working atm and many people are being reverted back to level 1. Go into your player folder and backup all the stat files.

I use the following batch file to start my game, so if my saves become corrupted I have a backup to revert to.
In your codmw2 folder create a new text document, and inside it paste the following code (note: change the directories in the code if yours are different, first should be to the "call of duty modern warfare 2" folder, second to the "players" folder, and third to the "steam" folder)

Code:
::MW2 Backup Script
@ECHO OFF

::Backup
for /f "tokens=1,2" %%u in ('date /t') do set d=%%v
for /f "tokens=1" %%u in ('time /t') do set t=%%u
if "%t:~1,1%"==":" set t=0%t%
set timestr=%d:~6,4%%d:~0,2%%d:~3,2%_%t:~0,2%%t:~3,2%

cd "c:\program files\steam\SteamApps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2"

MD backup
CD backup

MD players
CD players

xcopy "c:\program files\steam\SteamApps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2\players" /c /i /r /y

cd..

rename players players_%timestr%

cd "c:\Program Files\Steam\"

start steam.exe -applaunch 10190

exit
Then rename it to anything.bat (for example MW2_MP.bat) - make sure it's .bat and not .bat.txt - then create a shortcut to that .bat on your desktop, and optionally you can right click the shortcut and change the icon to the MW2 icon.
MW2 PC... how can you backup your online progress? - [H]ard|Forum
this was posted like 4 months ago so ti may not be correct...but..

Then use that shortcut to start the game, every time you start the game it will create a backup of your save files in a "backup" folder in your codmw2 folder..

Will that add on every time or will it delete the latest backup? because you'll rack up tons of backups. its good info but i think somebody said something about a new steam, i think it was just cosmetic. abc where are you plz confirm!

That's not getting your post count up. What I'm doing right now is getting my post count up.
