I've been noticing this for awhile and have just never asked the question. Sometimes I'll be playing and look down and I've got like 113 extra bullets (or something high like that). I am NOT using scavenger when this happens.
Best I can tell this has something to do with getting payback, but I'm not sure. So, what causes it? |

Really? I honestly had no idea. So if one used a wildly popular gun (ACR....ewwww) then scavenger would be rendered almost useless.

Max ammo is 180 (I think) even without Scavenger Pro.
You only get bullets from guns with the same attachments as yours. |

I hardly ever look at ammo until after I know I've reloaded several times....I have obsessive reload disorder, so i reload after every kill unless I see more than one guy at a time.

So if I'm carrying an M4 with FMJ, do I need to run over any FMJ gun, or an M4, or an M4 FMJ? |

I believe all attachments have to match. I haven't tested it or anything, so I'm not positive.

took me a while to work out what that clicking was. Not as long as it took me to work out what the bubble sound was. I kept hearing a soft bubble noise, it was claymores disappearing after someone dies. Drove me nuts

Well that makes sense as to why I hardly ever have it happen to me and have never noticed. I usually have strange attachments b/c I'm almost always working on weapon mastery.....mp5, mini Uzi, really any smg with agog are seriously f'd up guns to try to use. I wish they had secondary mastery......

The attachments have to match. Notice how it'll say press X to pick up TAR-21 silencer if you're using a TAR-21 RDS.
I notice that I pick up my own ammo, since I'm usually running back to the area where I got killed.

In COD4, the attachments didn't have to match. But in MW2, they changed the way that they work, with Bling etc. Therefore each combination on a weapon would be different.

LOL, the Bullet Fairy is helping you.

If you go back to the place where you died, you can always get ammo from your own weapon. Notice that not everyone drops a Scavenger pouch when they die, I guess they have to have it equipped to 'drop it'.

The recoil fairy forgot to pay my ACR a visit today. FML
On topic: You must have the same weapon AND attachments as the weapon on the ground in other to pick more ammo, if there is enough ammo in the weapon on the ground you can still carry max ammo even if you don't have Scavenger.
