Default Should I use a sniper or a smg with my tactical knife?

Having a hard time deciding whether to use a sniper or a smg.
The snipers seem to work nicer for long ranges because I use my knife for short-medium range but my perks don't really fit the ideal sniper? Since it's based on my knife my perks are a combination of cold-blooded, lightweight, commando, and ninja.
What do you think?

Both of them have 100% sprinting speed, but not using Stopping Power defeats the whole point of sniping, and since the main aspect of your class is the tac knife, go for UMP + Silencer(or w/e you prefer but silencer is recommended)Marathon + Lightweight/CB + Commando/Ninja.

This is a great rushing-knifing/stealth class, no need for across the map shots as you have speed/stealth to get near the enemy, and the UMP is great for medium range combat.

yea I also use it for stealth knifing as well. Thing is that sometimes when I see an enemy far away, I like to use my sniper, and my barett or intervention also gets me one hit kills at times. Will I be screwed stealth knifing in wasteland?

and isn't the sniper capable of collateral damage which is good? I once nearly died but killed two people headshot with one bullet w/ intervention.
Couldn't have done that with smg.

Cold-blodded and sniper if you have the suits. Always.

I use a sniper while knifing strictly for the ghillies.

I have a class with lightweight and one with cold blooded. I would say that I use the one with lightweight more though.

I do, but it doesn't really matter. I only do it for looks. If you ever use your primary, a smg would probably be more useful. When I knife I do nothing but knife.

Lightweight helps you kill people (by letting you get to knifing range on people who might have otherwise killed you before you got to them) and imo is equally as useful as CB against uavs because it helps you move so fast that the dot on the enemies radar from the uav is far enough away from your actual position that you are still sort of invisible - long sentance.
If you still have multiple knifing classes, I would recommend a CB one for maps like wasteland and derail (or any of the new maps if they have large open areas), because then my previous statement on LW and uavs doesn't help because the enemy can see you from so far away anyway.

On topic: if you run around with a tac knife out (btw, akimbo usp .45s have the same knife speed and refresh as a tac knife but without the range reduction) then I'd say sniper even if you don't have stopping pwr because without SoH pro you will take a while to scope in so you should have plenty of time to line up a head/upper chest shot for a 1hk, but if you would actually run around with your smg/UMP out then I'd suggest that.

I would say sniper. When I am knifing, im using my knife, w/ my secondary out at all times, so what weapon it is doesnt really matter to me, the thing that DOES make sniper ideal to me, is that i get camouflage by choosing it.

as for perks, marathon is always a must to me, and i prefer lightweight > coldblooded. and for 3, well its not really a knife class unless you have commando.

the main point of this class to me is all about speed, to move so fast you are hard to hit and close into melee range.

on a side note, i use martyr for this death streak, since if I do die, im often near an enemy because i mistimed my knife, so ill sometimes pick up the payback w/ the grenade

I would say a sniper rifle so you can make those long shots, as well you move just as fast with the sniper rifle as you do with the sub machine guns so it is not like it is slowing you down. So say on a map like Wasteland you want to use the sniper rifle for those long shots, then bust out the tactical knife when you go inside buildings or inside the tunnel. On medium sized maps like Scrapyard I recommend a sub machine gun, then switch the tactical knife when running through planes or through buildings.

Sniper is more fun, a tac knife is more frustrating.

Hmmm.... I'd go with SMG
The sniper is just too annoying if you don't get one hit kills easily, but an smg is automatic, so you don't need to worry about damage. I recommend the ump45 rapid fire, cuz it has good damage even with SP, and a good fire rate with rapid fire
