So I was messing around online yesterday and thought I'd try out the blast shield at the same time. Firstly, it's rubbish - it's such a burden not having peripheral vision, let alone missing out on the HUD.

Anyway, I had sitrep on and found a claymore, so I put on my blast shield and ran into it - and died.

What kind of rubbish equipment is that?? So you sacrifice having explosives and get handicapped by using it as well, yet it still won't stop a claymore blowing you up?

Maybe I'm just being dense but has anyone else had this kind of experience with it? Am I expecting too much from it?

I think you misunderstand the term, it's a detriment not having a hud and vision. Although, blast shield is rubbish and a daft idea (because MW2 doesn't have enough of those ammirite?)

Yeah it does seem like another bad idea on the list. It just surprised me because with a riot shield you can get away with pretty much no damage from a claymore going off in front of you, but a semtex will kill you. I just assumed if blast shield means the semtex doesnt kill you, then the claymore definitely wouldn't.

Man imagine if you COULD take direct explosions without a shield then it would be the most overpowered item of equipment ever. Games of domination would be full of juggernauts dashing through semtex and claymores. It would be item 145 of the mw2 complaints manual.
I have tried using the blast shield a few times and I agree it isnt that good, I will use it at some point to get the award.

Blast shield....huge joke.

I just think the worst thing about it is how it fucks your vision, seriously? It's not like it's ultra powerful. It sucks dick. The only thing it'll save you from is semtex (unless it sticks). Noobtubes still rape the blast shield.

They should have patched it the day after the game came out.

The reason they can't make it more powerful is because it is already very strong behind a Riot Shield.

Riot/Blast combo can survive pretty much any explosive damage that takes place in front of it, including being stuck by a Semtex.

If it were more powerful, Riot/Blast would be pretty much invincible to explosions.

Also, you don't have to leave it on all the time. It toggles on and off, so you don't have to have tunnel vision all the time. You can just flip it on when going into high risk areas (objective spots) or when the grenade indicator pops up.

You should of survived. Did the guy have danger close? I've survived claymores with blast shield all the time...

Don't think the guy had dangerclose, to be fair you've probably survived when running through them.. I just sort of stood infront of it cus i thought it'd be funny lol
