Team Selection in pregame lobby - Modern Warfare 2 Forum: Free Call of Duty MW2 Community

How does the team selection work when you are in the pregame lobby? Does it look at score from the last game, rank, or what?

I was just wondering because for the past couple days I feel like I have been on the short bus teams. The guys/gals on my team have just been terrible, I am usually the only one on that goes positive and tries for the actual objective.

Most of the time my teammates are running around and getting killed because it seems like they just will not shoot at the enemy. Or they are standing in one spot spinning and shooting in the air.

Playing CTF yesterday on Vacant, spectated one guy on my team who was just running around with the Barrett and whenever he saw someone would just unload his Barrett trying to no scope him. His final score 2-27. And in the same match this other guy using a SCAR w/ ACOG, never even fired his gun once when I was spectating. He just walked around and got shot, his final score, a whopping 0-33.

Sorry, just had to vent a little. Anyone else feel like this sometimes?

It is annoying. Even worse is when you go to join a game and it throws you into a game where your team is losing, there are 3 and a half minutes left, and there is a harrier and a pavelow already out.

Then, you quit to get a new game or something and it puts you right back into the same damn game.

I get put in the same game ALL the time. We all know it sucks joining when your team is losing.

As far as the selection goes, I think it goes by the score from the previous game. Top player to team A, second player to B, third to A etc..

Totally random by the looks of it.

I was playing CTF last night for the first time ever... I was the only one trying to capture the damn flag. I got it 3 times...

It's completely random. I've had it where I was placed as the leading scorer for my new team when I would be 4th overall.

There has to me some sort of method. Maybe it just appears random.

I have been placed in a team where most of us were mid Prestige, mid level players against no prestige, low level players.

Well they way this game plays, maybe completely random was the most logical matchmaking.

The whole "getting dumped into a losing team with 1 minute to go" is inevitable really because people are more likely to leave when they/their team is doing badly and that leaves a nice gap for poor unsuspecting you.
What I would like to see is an option to join a game or not rather than it just dump you in, it's a double-whammy when it also counts a loss if you pull out straight away because your team is made up of headless chickens.

Yeah but then if you try to join a game again it will dump you right back into that same damn game! That's 2 losses if you quit each time.

This may sound bad, but it won't count as a loss (on 360) if you dashboard.

Random, it's annoying.
The scores of one game were like 55-6, 40+, etc. The four players with the highest scores were put on one team. The rest were put with me. Yeah.

Anyone ever notice it says "making balanced teams..." in the pregame lobby. Wonder what it's doing then.

The equivalent of hitting your PS button and quitting the game instead of leaving it...nothing for that match is recorded in your stats.
