Just watched a Machinima video where the guy took out his semtex then changed his mind and put it away again. I was unaware this could be done - can someone let me know the buttons for doing this?

Press Triangle/Change from Primary to Secondary when the semtex is in your hand.

Yep, I discovered that by mistake/chance, I "pulled" a semtex to kill someone taking a flag but then someone killed him before I threw it. I was now stuck with it and didn't want to waste it so I instinctively pressed triangle and switched to my primary weapon.

That is incredibly helpful! I usually just say "oh well" and chuck it over a building for a chance at some random kill. Didn't know I could put it away!

I wonder, once you pull out a frag, can you 'put it away' before it goes off? I'll try that tonight.

Just press triangle as everyone else said. You can do this with any equipment. You cant do it with flashe's or stun's though.

Frags probably won't work considering you pulled the pin on it already. I'm pretty sure it works on clays, C4s, Semtex and Throwing Knife. Not sure about tactical insertions...

Great info guys, no longer will I have to wander around like a twat holding a claymore in front of me because i'd decided at the last minute that I didn't want to lay it.
Funnily enough I've had to use triangle loads since being enlightened, it does make a difference to gaming decisions when you know you can put it away again if need be. |

My problem is, I know this is an option, but I still toss the damn grenade into some random spot. THEN I remember I could have switched it out and feel like the dumbass I am.

While doing some brief testing, I did not find a way to put them away but I found that if you're holding a nade/equipment you can alternate between the special nade/equipment button/key without releasing it (eg. pull out a flash nade and without letting go of that key start to hold down your ordinary nade key, release the special nade key and you will continue to hold the flashbang without throwing it by using your equipment key). This discovery isn't particularly useful for anything but in my testing (using a throwing knife) I could run around with the special nade ready to throw and as soon as I release it I could tap the key again to launch a throwing knife at the same instant (yet again, not really that useful).
Also in my testing I found out that the recoil on the intervention is somehow controlled by the procedure for chambering a new round (what I mean is this: if I fire my intervention and them immediately pull out my throwing knife (while my aim is still moved upwards from the recoil) my crosshair slowly moves back down but as soon as I put away (or throw) the knife I finish bolt-action animation and doing that moves my crosshair back down to where it 'normally' is. I don't think this is really useful for anything either...).
