AUG is more usefull in Close quarters. at range they are about the same, but the AUG imo is much better....

TAR is the 3rd fastest killing gun in the game tied with the L86 in MAX DPS, after the MP5K and Gay-Teen, it's the 5th in MIN DPS after all LMGs, And 3rd in average DPS behind the L86, Gay-Teen(good luck hitting anything at this range lulz), considering all ranges the L86 is the fastest killing automatic weapon in the game by average DPS.

Not counting semi auto/OHK weapons.

Or summin' like that.


EDIT: OT: If you're on PC use the AUG. On console the M16 is more considerable, ties with the AUG IMO.

They are both good weapons but fall under different categories... I prefer ARs to LMGs.

Considering they're both good at range I would choose the AUG when I don't want SP as my second perk, M16 when I do.
