Default why was my post deleted?

I created a thread in the MW2 general chat room about the average KDR on peoples friends list - and you deleted it.

Why?????

Reason it was deleted.

Besides, its more of a friends list test than analyzing the data of every player that has touched the game, excluding hackers, boosters, glitchers, and suicides. There's way too many variables to the equation to have the "definite" answer without proper information.

And even then, it will be constantly incorrect since people will be playing all of the time, so only time-oriented information on X date will be accurate.

I see. So the "too many variables" argument will apply to a post that i start, but we'll allow it on any other discussion that invovles the same number, if not more, variables?

The original topic in question was actually locked because it got off track, not because of "too many variables" As seen here:

Quote:
And with that, I'm closing this topic for the time being.

The original poster only intended to find out if anyone could reach his ratio at ten-thousand kills. Instead it turned into a heated argument over what the average ratio of the community was, and people nitpicking each other over the smallest things.

I'll end it with one of the most reasonable posts I've seen in this thread.
So thats why i started a new thread with a specific topic "KDR averages" instead of "match my KDR"

whatever, thats what happens when certain people get power.

and by using this explanation:

Quote:
And even then, it will be constantly incorrect since people will be playing all of the time, so only time-oriented information on X date will be accurate.
You'd have to lock 95% of the threads on this site.

But hey, if you all want to be one-sided in your approach to ToS enforcement, go for it, its your website.

It doesn't matter what the title is specifically, having just locked a thread because it is causing a lot of tension, we are not about to go and let everyone continue the arguing in your thread.

I'm sure once people calm down a little bit then the two threads can be re-opened.

I believe what NinJa was stating (and if I am wrong he can correct me when he gets on) is that it was the repeat of a thread that was already closed for flaming.

I see what you're saying - but i respectfully will disagree.

Starting a similar thread about a discussion i believe to be interesting and relative doesn't seem to "flame" to me.

But, i guess that i, too, have a biased perspective.

Oh well. No point in trying to fight it.

I'm all for you creating a new, better thread that doesn't flame, especially if it's also on an interesting subject. I guess the mod just felt people flaming in one thread will see a new one with a similar title and just jump to that.

Perhaps PM a mod if your thread hasn't been unlocked in a few days.

And if I may... When I read the new thread I thought "Oho here we go again!" as did probably many others here. Realistically, the thread was asking to be deleted given the antics in the last thread.

So, saying

"we have been arguing a point based on theory"

SO

"Lets move past theory and get some tangible evidence: What is the average KDR of all the people on your friends list"

is saying "F YOU WHALE, F YOU DOLPHIN" to the community at large?

You lost me?

Lets just say that I based my remarks on the derogatory commentary the previous thread degraded into. Folks couldn't play nice when presented with theory, why would they play nice when presented with tangible evidence. Of course I could be wrong - it's happened on occasion.

Okay. I know exactly what you're saying. And had i created my new thread by saying "F YOU WHALE, F YOU DOLPHIN" then i think you'd have a valid argument

but attempting to steer the conversation away from theory and more toward fact isn't doing that what so ever. Attempt to remove the "controversy" by adding in the request that we "seek out some facts" is exactly what i said in my thread body i wanted to do.

Closing it was just uncalled for, IMO.

This is EXACTLY why I closed it. If you read it, I said I was closing the topic for now. I was in the process of cleaning the older thread out, and was planning on re-opening it for civil discussion, patience is a virtue.

I apologize that you were offended by the way I closed the topic. Making the same thread minutes after the previous was closed due to excessive arguing and flaming wasn't a good idea. Because tempers were still probably flaring and I didn't want that to continue into the new one.

I don't appreciate being labeled as abusing my power. My job as a moderator is to keep the discussion at a civil manner without excessive arguing at the convenience of the community. Locking a thread because it was only going to have the same fate as the previous thread is hardly abusing power, but an attempt at trying to keep the peace.

If you have any other comments or feedback, please send me a private message so we can work out this manner in private, and not further discuss it in public.

Thank you.
