The FAQ is actually a good idea. I'll look over that section and see what questions we can put in. If you want, you can help me by PMing me a good list of what you think should be in it. You'll get credited of course!

In fact, it can be a community written guide, if anyone has things to add, let me know.

A FAQ would be really good, and removal of a lot of the useless stickies here.

I think we did have some kind of FAQs section up. No clue why it was removed. I wouldn't mind seeing it back.

There's already a FAQ in the Q&A section by abc. It was never stickied though. Need glue.

Thanks guys for reminding us of that very thread. I went ahead and applied glue to the topic.

What? Something like this: Frequently Asked Questions stickied?

> Restrict posting in the media section under 50 posts (or whatever number would be appropriate, just not 5 or smth).

Why?

> Permaban ppl line the guy in my sig.

Should we also ban those who, irrespective of quality of posts, get in constant arguments?
FAQ has been stickied.

Restrict posting... the only thing that'd do is reduce the amount of "hey luk at my m0ntage" posts OR increase general one-word/image-replies everywhere else.

This is getting repetitive.

> Yeh the faq, but I also meant like, a compilation of the questions that get answered in that section.

> Because many ppl simply seem to register only to get hits on their videos.
If the restriction is set high enough, people wont bother with 1 word posts.
On top of that, dont count the posts made in certain sections (awol, etc) towards total postcount and this is pretty much fix'd.
Atleast that somewhat similar to how atenajunkies fix'd similar problems.

> I only get into arguments with people who post utter bullshit. So some of this crap doesnt spread further. Isnt the whole point of forums discussing topics anyhow? When it derails into an argument it mostly is so because people simply cant stand to be proven wrong in a discussion. On top of which they mostly persist in their stupidity.
This is a really common bias anyhow.

When somebody like 4thReich makes a post like this you know he is either trolling or simply clueless about the game.
I explained why his opinion was wrong, since it didnt stroke at all with reamity & common sense, after which he pretty much opened a flamewar.

People like him who either troll or start void arguments out of their own stubbornness & stupidity, should simply be banned.

So, what you're saying is you'd like to see every Quick Question topic added to the FAQ list? We can do that, update it every month, seems fair enough.

Certain sections (e.g. AWOL... ) are already configured so that they don't count towards your post count.

Is it a bad thing if someone registers just to get hits on their youtube videos. Sure if they spam their video in the wrong sections they'll be dealt with. If they post a link to their profile and don't come back... fine it's their loss. But if someone comes, posts a link to their vid, and finds they like the forum then that is a very good reason not to restrict video posting. I agree that having so much "coment Rate susbcribe KthxBAI" can "hide" the genuinly good montages or walkthroughs or w/e.

Having knowledgable members on the site is brilliant, and by all means politely correct people or debate (afterall a forum is for discussion and debate not "THIS IS WAT WEAPONZ U MUST USE NOW!!!!!") but it's when politely correcting a small fact/debate turns to arguing that I have a problem with.

Pretty hilarious how in the meantime the tubetopic still isnt locked, even 2 mods have simply replied in it. Yet it's filled with plain flaming from the OP & anybody who reads the first 2 posts should know that no good can come from such a topic.

There's nothing intrinsicly wrong with an argument imo. It only becomes a problem when people can't handle disagreements and let their emotions fly out turning it into a flamefest of insults.

chaR, having some WoW history you probably remember the EJ forums for theorycrafting. They were tough. Seemed to ban more than they posted at times but it was well run and became the premier site for theorycraft research. But they banned for flaming and insults as much as stupidity.
The end result was that it was a pretty "cold" place of math and logic but you couldn't argue with it.

I don't think that's the kind of environment the admins / mods want here. The closest to EJ in the CoD world is Den's board which is again, very interesting and pretty much where all the "numbers" come from but it's not very welcoming for the average player unlike this site which appears to be geared towards the mainstream - open to anyone who wants to talk about MW2.

Regardless of the type of forum culture, people who think that other people are stupid for disagreeing, unless they can convey their thoughts into something valuable to the topic without getting personal and resorting to insults, probably shouldn't comment at all - it's not relevant and worst of all it just invites more flames.

The most interesting topics are the contriversial ones, but unfortunatly they'll be more likely to turn into a flamefest.
