I know its unnecessary, but I did like the rep system in the C4F. Is their any plans to create a similar system?

I dont think the rep system costs extra money. I think it would cost money if the forums were free but these were purchased. I'm not 100% sure though, guess we just have to wait on the admins to give us a final answer.

But yea I loved the rep system on C4F

It doesnt cost anything, and I will consider it. I do not particularly like rep systems however - lots of potential for abuse/creation of hard feelings/conflict

Rep on C4F was more often given because someone asked for it. I personally didn't like that rep system at all. Maybe if you an find a much better way to actually give accurate rep of a person would be better, but I wont lose any sleep over not having one.

What about some sort of post rep. Like kudos etc given to threads/posts? Could that be any better?

The best rep system I've ever seen was on an old forum of mine.

There was no -Rep, and you got +1 point for every 50 posts you made. If you were to rep someone, you could only give them 1 point but you had to use that point wisely because you didn't get another for 50 more posts. 'Twas awesome.

I don't like rep systems at all---people start posting for all the wrong reasons. I'd rather be judged on my character then on a little symbol beneath my name thanks very much.

& SL33P--rep system was disabled on C4B (good move IMO)

I think that Fenny's "Thanks" feature would be a much better way to thank ppl for being helpful, since that is what rep was initially made for.

Um...don't you get the feeling that that's exactly what would be going on lmao. (have you seen how many threads were started on rep systems, awards, thank threads etc---it's all so people can pat themselves on the back lmao)

Exactly. There is no reason to give an incentive for people to post. It will just lead to spam and less quality among those posts. People should be known around here because of the quality of their posts, not their post count and/or reputation.

Well if people notice there's rep ponging going on, they report it, mods/admins take action.

I agree completely.

C4B has no rep system in place. That place thrives.

There is no need for rep. Everyone knows how much everyone appreciates each other. WE dont need to tell them. lol.

Hmm...I am confident some would. The others have yet to show they are competent and mature enough to fulfill their responsibilities to the community (no offense--but there's been talk)

When you notice two certain members rep is getting pretty significant around the same time, someone will check it out.

Like i said in the opening thread , the differences are viewable to the more mature mannered and it all comes to who can do - see it and who can not. Even if something gets brought up to that point, it is all one sided because Ientry should have brought this to a more mannered discussion to the admins and moderators. Daniel should have had a lot of input since he was the original owner of both sites and knew how to do things.

I think you should give what your members want. I mean if some of your members want this, then give it to them. Make em happy. If you dont like the system, then dont use it. It's as simple as that.
