On other vB forums ive seen a thank you and nomination system where a member can thank another member for a post or a thread they created and also nominate a thread.

Have there been any thoughts about this?

Couldn't you just thank them in PM?--otherwise it would just seem like a lot of pointless 'back clapping'...a space filler if you will

I've never heard of a nominated thread. But I know what the thanks system is and I like it.

Out of all this -
The thanks feature seems best.

Every thing else will lead to people posting just to post. Not to actually help others and give inciteful thoughts.

I see no difference, but I will support any sort of system that gives credit where credit needs to be given.

IMO this is ok ots better than the rep system people have been talking about but i still don't know why the forum really needs it. the thing about doing good things for other people is that you know that you have done them and it makes you feel good. having other people know about it is irrelivent.

I agree, plus the 3 monthly awards and yearly.. a lot of people who are more deserving of such things, generally get overlooked in favour of 'friends'

The thanks system would be pretty good for posts etc and there could be a tally or a table somewhere that shows a few of the highest thanked members maybe.
