Why was my thread closed

I recently a thread about the shotgun attachment, and I guess I wasn't clear with he first post, and everyone started fucking around and not taking it seriously, so I clarified the subject, and people still intentionally go off-topic...

Why should my thread get closed because other people go off topic?

No. Your posts would probably be deleted, and if the thread still had life in it, it would remain open. Your thread had very little worthy content in it at all, and it wasn't progressing anywhere. That's why it was locked.

It wasn't progressing because people wouldn't stay on topic, even after I clarified....and if my posts would be deleted, then why weren't their off topic posts deleted?

The thread had been derailed.

Sadly, not all threads lead to discussion, and whilst off topic posting is fine in AWOL it is not tolerated in General Discussion. Since the thread was overwhelmingly off topic posts, deleting all those posts wouldn't have been much help.

Starting a sarcastic thread about a serious issue will likely net you sarcastic replies. A variation of the golden rule here, if you want your posts to be taken seriously, you better make serious points.
