I think you guys should implement a rep system where people can + or - rep people depending on how good their post are and how helpful they are. I know you guys got a thank system, but I think if there was a rep system people would be more willing to post more helpful information.

Rep system is kinda like trophies/achievements. Only the kids really care about it.

I brought this subject up a long time ago. AFAIK the thanks system was created as a compromise.

As the topic said it does get ugly, and it could lead to boosting unnecessary fights ect.

IMO it's better just to post something and get a thanks back in a response, rather than waiting for somebody to "Thank" you with the button. I'll use the button to thank people occasionally but honestly it's just a number that doesn't really matter, you're not necessarily a better person just because you have more thanks. Some people who post the most useful information on this forum have very little thanks.

The reason we went with "thanks" instead of a rep system is there is nothing negative about saying "thanks" whereas it is possible to be negative via rep (obviously + or - rep)

I think "thanks" is an ideal solution.
