Default Clan Section Rule Addition

To get Voodoo off my case because he is quite annoying, can you (Abc) add a rule to the clan section that we can bump our recruitment posts every 3 days?

I don't think it's fair for my post to go to the last page cuz of a rule that needs som changin'

Here is the way I currently see it:
  • "bumping" is extremely annoying
  • there is no reason why your thread deserves to be above anyone elses
  • there is no reason why anyone elses deserves to be above yours
  • allowing bumps often creates a sort of "bump-off" war between a few posters
  • allowing bumps after XX days is time consuming and possibly "nazi-like" to enforce
  • HOWEVER I do think members who actively engage in our community should recieve perks (c wut i did thar) & benefits, it'd be nice if one of them was (in some form or another) a higher placed "advert" (because that's what it is, lets face it) for their clan. I'll discuss this with the mods and see if we can come up with a way of providing you regular guys with "priority" posts in that section or something.

Anyone have any thoughts, ideas or input that I can take to the "table" when the moderators discuss this?

How about having some of the popular threads as stickies? i.e. the ones that people actually join because they are good.

Mmm the problem with stickies is once we got say 15 stickies then all new topics would be on page 2. There has to be some sort of time element to it, it'd be a bit unfair the other way if a post made a year ago was shown on page 1, whereas new topics were shown on page 2.

Temporary stickies would be moderator intensive, but an option.

We could have an "awesome clans" directory topic which has links to clan posts for members with over XX amounts of posts.

A "Clan Directory" wouldn't be a bad idea. Could have a submission process similar to that of the guides, people hoping to be in it would have to fill out a detailed form, have to have a website, etc.

That way, the more serious clans would be at the top, then guys coming in with their "clans" (made up of a few friends) wouldn't disrupt serious recruiting.

abc may have just solved another problem

My favoured idea was a sort of "once user has reached 50 posts let them use a "MW2F Recommended" tag in the title of their clan posts" but unfortunately there is no simple way of doing that.

As a by product I did notice you can use HTML in the thread prefix tags, so have made the PSN, XBOX & PC ones colour coded (with the XBL green, blue for PSN etc) It's colourful and makes it very quick to spot the clan for you etc but I'm wondering if the coloured versions of those tags should be confined to the barracks sections. Also, having stumbled across this, I would probably have given users with XX posts the ability to use a bold & colour coded tag, but as I said this is not a simple concept to achieve.

Will keep thinking...

UPDATE: So far we (mods [hopefully members too]) are liking the "awesome clans directory" sticky idea. Maybe you have to have XX posts to get your info in the sticky, OR maybe if you have say XX posts you get basic info (name, tag, platform, website URL, contact info) whereas XXX posts gets you basic info, 300 characters description & an image (clan banner or w/e)

FYI:

The blue "PSN" tag is no longer followed by a colon, whereas the others are.
