Forum updates

I came over from the cod4forum when this site first appeared, and I still get regular updates from them via email. It's a fairly small thing but it sometimes draws my attention to some gaming or forum news/topic etc that otherwise would have escaped me. I've looked on my profile but can't find any option to enable an email update so I assume this site doesn't do one? Probably a good idea, and it would encourage more visits by casual members.

Currently this site does not have a newsletter.

The nearest thing to it would be subscribing to all the threads you like & then in your User CP selecting to receive updates in a "weekly digest" (or whatever the phrasing is)

Nevertheless, I shall enquire about this next time I speak to a higher-up.

As of this post, it is not a stock feature. Its actually a hack.

The only way admins would get you to come back through e-mail is manually mass e-mailing.

HOWEVER, iB - the parent company of vBulletin, says that they're looking to create a newsletter system in an upcoming version of vb4.

It's just as well "mass email marketting" is exactly what MW2F's parent company provide as a product...

Really annoyingly I spoke to someone yesterday regarding a few bits of this site but newsletters totally slipped my mind xD

It was a rather brief convo unfortunately. I'm a bit skeptical of any plans, since we had a strategy for the future and then seemingly went completely against it and 5 days later MW2F was fully up and running.

It's likely that this website may be updated (visually & content-wise) to facilitate BO, however if that were the case I'm suprised a few ideas which have been in the air for the past 3 months or so, haven't been done.

Does that imply :
a) nothing will be done and, as with the COd4-MW2 changeover a whole new site will be created
or
b) they''ll just wing it 12 hours before and tack something onto the end of this one?
Either way, I hope they include email updates.....

I think it implies that no one can really tell you what will happen, even the COO of iEntry.

As I said, there was a plan that outlined what would happen at each COD release for the foreseeable future & put into place infrastructure for future versions of COD. However about two months before MW2 was released that plan seemingly vanished (I don't know what happened to it, it might be a long term goal, it may have been abandoned completely or they may have been working on it for the last year in secrecy [unlikely, I'd have thought]) and MW2F was knocked together. Sure, a couple of months before release is probably the optimum release date for a product-specific forum but given how quickly this forum was 99% finished I would hesitate to say that now or in 5 months is too late for an entire new forum.

I suppose as far as this forum is concerned (if people are wondering about a mass exodus or anything) is that I got the impression that there hadn't been a lot of thought into Black Ops.
