Okay, recently I got some Turtle Beach X11's. I got a new TV with a 3.5mm audio output about 6 months back as well. So, I thought that I'd pop a extension cable in there instead of the R/W cables they give you, to save myself some wire tangles and reading complicated instructions.
It worked... sort of. Game sound only came out of one ear. Then I found out that since I have an HDMI cable already hooked up, I can't plug in the SD adapter right beside it cause there's no room in the little concave section on my Xbox. So, I have a choice - play with one channel of sound on HD or play with full sound and suffer with blurry SD quality. My question is: is there a way to make the 3.5mm output on my TV go from mono to stereo? alternatively, is there a way to ghettorig my Xbox so that I can plug both HD and SD in there are the same time, without voiding my warranty?

I cracked off the plastic casing on the SD cable for the xbox, then I could fit HDMI and the AV cables both... don't be scared, just pry it off, you might have to work on it a little but the casing just tries to block off the HDMI port, when you don't really need it.
edit: google/youtube it. I was apprehensive to do it at first but it's simple and you can put the cover back on whenever ya want.

I got the same suggestion by other people in a forum I frequent. It solved the issue, and it was actually quite easy. Thanks!
I've heard that you should wrap the metal casing in electrical tape. Is there any truth behind that? I'm afraid that it might null any advantage that popping off the case gave me, space-wise.

I didn't put any tape around mine, and it was fine. I used it for about 6 or more months, and it was okay. Once my cap card came in, I had to order the component cables (the red/blue/green) for the Xbox and I no longer use HDMI... IMO components seem just as good as HDMI. But yeah, I wouldn't really put electrical tape on it. You can try it, but mine was okay. Just keep it dust free I suppose and try not to remove it/move it around a lot.

so what? he asked about a bunch of things and was apprehensive about tearing off the cover, as i was, so i just wanted to let him know how easy it is. i'd rather give a full and maybe too-much-information answer than a short one that might not really help him
@S5: enjoy the TB's... just don't throw them too much

Thanks, and I'll try not to the next time I'm raging at a camper/noob tuber. i have a habit of throwing things when playing CoD. That's how my first 2 headsets met their end.
Oz, I dont see how that was the case... I understood the basic message just fine... "Take off the gray cover" As a sidenote I woulda used component, but my TV refuses to show reds in 720p mode. No idea why.

All you do is stick your Red and White Cables from your headset into the TV's audio out. You don't need to take the case off of the xbox cable cause you don't need it, at all.

I tried that. It came out as mono. The game sound only came out of one ear.

You said in your first post you only used the single stereo input. Did I miss something else?

I re-read your post and what I said didn't make sense. :/ My TV doesn't have RCA Audio Out. It only has 3.5mm.
