Default GFX card(s) for this beast?

So my homie built this rig and wants to sell it to me on the cheap. He has it listed for $800 on Craigslist but said he'd give me a better deal.

Would my GT 430 work okay or should I get another one or just put another GT 430 in with it? This rig will function for both work and play, seeing as I have to work with huge graphic and photographic files at work; if my Mac can't handle it, this MOFO will.

Go on newegg and add all that to the basket, then post resulting cost.

What was the actual question again? In games the GT 430 would perform virtually the same as it currently performs (yeah you probably will get, I don't know, <25% more due to a great CPU, but 125% of "not very much" is still "not very much") Apps from Photoshop to Autocad actually require very little from a GPU, just having a dedicated GPU of any description is usually more than enough. It's cores & RAM that these programs respond to. Oh and a fast HDD for saving stuff. I've used PS on computers which take literally 30 seconds to save your work. This is not fun.

I tried to take a screenshot of the newegg cart but my browser kept crashing. Some of the components weren't specific brands so I picked the lower priced ones and ended up with $1,124 not including tax. That includes a $110 rebate off the MOBO. Pretty sure I can get the rig for $700-750. I'll have plenty of money for a new monitor. Will this PC work well in conjunction with a 42" LCD 1080p TV? Wanna make sure I've got enough stuff for a bigger TV.

No PC works well in conjunction with a TV tbh. For starters, where the fuck are you going to put the keyboard & mouse? you can't sit in front of a 42" TV.

Secondly 42" at 1080p will look s*** from anything closer than normal-TV-watching distance. If I sit 2 foot away from my monitor and play PC it looks lovely. If I sit 2 foot away from the same monitor and play BOps on PS3 it looks nothing short of horrific. Literally (in more ways than one, ironically) like playing at 1024*768 or something.

I used to have a small students desk set up about 6 feet from a 42" and it was fine because whenever friends came over I'd move the desk w/ keyboard & mouse to the side and we would watch movies from the PC. I guess it all depends on how my next apartment is set up and what furniture I have/buy at the time.

aside from that, for the price I'll get out of him, it's a good deal. Will the GT 430 be sufficient or would you suggest something better?

For what?

PS? Games? Or just "working?"

As I've said for PS, CAD or just "working" at a "high" res a GeForce 8400GS is enough. It would be hilarious if it could, but your CPU/mobo has no way of going "fuck that, how dare you pair me with such a shit GFX card I'm going on strike." If you're on about gaming well then it'll be the same as a GT430 on any other 1920*1080 screen (have you used the 430 on said 42"?)

Sorry for not being specific enough, but all of those things. Mostly playing COD games maxed out. I haven't purchased a TV yet, gotta buy the PC first but I've put the 42" on hold and will probably just get a 24" LCD monitor. I'm tired of my 19" widescreen.

GeForce GT 430 1024MB review

Whatever size you buy it will seem "normal" within a few weeks and infact look "small" after a few months.
