Well for christmas i have a new pc coming, it has HD outputs yada yada.

When i got the pc (I have it now, i was just loading stuff on so i don't have to do it at christmas, then i'd pack it away) I'd put it on my 1080p 22" (I think) and it'd crop out the corners so it'd have a kind of margin around it (If you know wat i'd mean, i was wondering if i could get it too work so it'd all fit on it?

I tryed it with my old laptop and it'd do the same but it'd be like the bottem left corner and i'd haft to scroll accross to see the otherside.

Any help on recturfying (Sorry for spelling) this so i can see it all, also i can play my ps3 1080p on it and its fine so...

Did you try all resolutions ?


My 22" uses 1680x1050 but yours could be different, try changing it till it looks good, or look in your manual for the right one to use.

Set the screen resolution to 1920x1080.
Problem solved.

"The term usually assumes a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9, implying a horizontal resolution of 1920 pixels. This creates a frame resolution of 1920×1080, or 2,073,600 pixels in total."

So your 1080p screen does not support 1080p?

yeah two things to consider here:

is it ACTUALLY:

1920x1080
1920x1200 (doubt it very much unless it is a MONITOR not a TV)
1680x1050 (not 1080p. Don't know why peopel think 1050p is 1080p - surely that's quite obvious?)

Once you've got the res in games (e.g. COD) are you setting it to:

16:10
16:9



For a "true" 1080p TV you would want 1920x1080 and 16:9. IIRC you are unfortunate enough ( ) to have an nVidia GeForce 9500GT?

In that case right click the desktop and choose nVidia Control Panel and change the resolution and, if needed, aspect ratio in there.

My TV when using a HDMI with PS3 and stuff displays 1080p.

And when i use the DVI it does 1680x1050.

well then quite clearly the PS3 either lies (99% possible) and upscales (it does this anyway from 478p or some bizzare, and may I add very low, number) or you have your PC set on 1680x1050 when it can infact do 1920x1080.

My monitor .

it says its 1080p but i cant make it 1080p in ccc or display settings.

EDIT: after looking in my manual it lists all displays and stuff but it only says 1920x1080 when it uses the HDMI and on the RGB list the max says it is 1680x1050

Oh god trust absolutely anything but cnet.com or ciao.com regarding any product that is available online.

Hell if you read CNET spec page closely it says 1920x1200.

LG website says 1680x1050 which supports the theory of why the PC won't go above 1050p but the PS3 will, and also the theory of why cnet & ciao are crap

I can't find the aspect ratio - and if i change it to 1920 by 1080 (Or w.e it was) it goes so small i can't see a thing. Any more help?
