Ever since v3.10 update came out my PS3 won't install large game updates, they all end up corrupted during or after downloading. Small ones like the regular MW2 ones (I thikn they're usually 15-30mb) are fine, but for example I recently bought Motorstorm Pacific Rift and, as it's been out a while, there was a large update around 600mb in size. It downloads fine but once it starts installing it says the file is corrupt. I've tried dozens of times over the last few weeks, no joy. This also happens with any other update of this size. I've googled it and other people had no problem with the update so I'm guessing it's a problem my end....
I've read somewhere that it's the playstation RAM that's at fault, if so it's a good reason to buy a slimline at last, but I don't want to do that unless I have to. The RAM idea would make sense i suppose, if the large updates use the nether regions of the RAM that gaming doesn't tend to use (therefore not showing up the problem in other ways) Anyone else had a simlar problem and found a way to fix it? I've tried the usual, turn off media sharing, move to a wired connection instead of wireless, checked internet connection etc...... any help appreciated, thanks |

I've found Sony to be un-expectedly helpful with issues like this. I'd go to PlayStation.com, and go through their normal channels and procedures.

thanks for the suggestion, I'll give them a shot. I had avoided it so far because I've heard so many stories of Sony just ignoring or downright denying some problems people are having, so I thought I'd get more joy trying here first!
