Default Sony Vegas 9.0: can't speed up a fragment of a video

Title is pretty much self explinatory.

Ive always used sony vegas 7.0, recently DL'd the newer 9.0 pro version.

My MW2 fragvid is pretty much finished, except for the fact that I can't speed up the boring "walk around" parts.

I posted this on some other board to so let me illustrate what I mean with the example I used there

Quote:
Say I have:
> A single video clip of me running 4 seconds, jumping 4 seconds & a spin that takes 4 seconds.

I want:
> A video clip of me running 4 seconds, the same jumping done in 2 seconds & spinning 4 seconds.

What I did in vegas 7.0:
- split in between the running & the jumping
- split in between the jumping & the spin
- rightclick the jumping, now splitted part -> properties -> playback rate 2,000 to double the speed.

At this point my full video would look like this:
Running 4 seconds, jumping 2 seconds, jumping 2 seconds (repeat), spin 4 seconds.
So what I do next: since there is a small pinch or chip, dno how the proper translation sounds (I just mean an indication to where I have to cut it off), shown where the second jump, aka the repeat begins.
Like this I could easily shorten the clip, since it would fall in place if I shortened its duration by simply dragging it in the timeline bar.

What I do in vegas 9.0 pro:
- split in between the running & the jumping
- split in between the jumping & the spin
- rightclick the jumping, now splitted part -> properties -> playback rate 2,000 to double the speed.

Now in Vegas 9.0 pro my video will look like this:
Running 4 seconds, jumping 2 seconds, spin 2 seconds, spin 4 seconds.
There is no indication or whatsoever, atleast not that I found out about yet, that shows where I should cut it off where I originally split it.
To adjust this manually without this nifty little aid, it's pretty much impossible to make a fluent & nice video. On top of that, it takes infinitly more work to even make it somewhat fluent.
Any people who use vegas 9.0pro that could help me out here? Want to publish my movie, but it's gonna be shitboring if I can't speed up the the walking around parts, plus it'll be a 24min movie if I do so, which means everybody will pretty much turn it off before even passing the 5min mark >.<

OK, here we go:

Split the track as you did before.
Move your cursor to the right end of the piece you want to make shorter. Hold ctrl, your cursor will show a wave under the square thing. Drag the end to the left, depending on how much you want it to speed up.
If this sounds confusing, just tell me and I will try to explain it better.
