Exclamation A little help here?

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to change my NAT type? Right now its strict and its quite annoying trying to join games or play with my other buddies. I have no clue how to do so as I'm no computer guru. If theres any questions you need to know about my hardware or modem or anything just ask and Ill let you know. Help is very much appreciated.

Moved to Tech Discussion

1. Log into router's IP address and enter password. Select "Advanced Setup".

2. Click on Advanced on left hand menu and select UPnP

3. Check all three boxes in window and click on Apply

4. Close router configuration window and run your system again.

I worked for me

I appreciate the reply. Ill let you know it turns out. Sorry about putting it in the wrong section.

Edit: Well I tried something close to this manner as your directions were a bit different than what my modem setup was. Although I did find the uPnP and checked it but to no avail that did not help. Is there any advice I can get on the matter? The Modem is a Netopia Vg something or another I think. If this will help I can give exact name if need be. Thanks in advance.

What kind of internet service do you have? High speed, or slow internet?

I have a slower internet connection at the moment, I plan to upgrade soon. Usually if you have a slower internet, you will have problems connecting to games, or parties, as your NAT Type won't be Open. If you can afford it, I would switch to a faster connection if I were you.

If the router is in your room, you could purchase a long ethernet cable, and connect to your router directly. If the router isn't in your room, make sure there isn't many walls between the router, and your console.

This is all assuming that you have a wireless router and a slow internet connection.

Hm. I don't have any expirence with this type of modem, but I know that the modem you have has a problem with its networking. I suggest you get another modem, maybe a linksys, and try that.

When I play I directly connect. Ethernet to xbox from modem. My internet shouldnt be to slow. Its the farthest I can upgrade by AT&Ts standards. Will a new modem change my NAT or do I have to change ISP? Im at a loss right now on finding a way to get it open. I think I've tried everything but calling them directly and asking them.

My NAT type is strict even though the UPnP is selected. I usually only have issues when gaming w/ my Euro friends. I don't know what else I can do to change it to open, as my router says it should be. It doesn't take me that long to find a game though, not sure why you can't find one.

Finding games isnt a huge problem although its a little slow. I attribute that mainly to the fact it will not let me join half the people I want to join. The game wont let me join when certain people are host. Then other are just fine. Im told this is because my NAT is strict so Im trying to find a way to get it to open.
