would help if you said where.
anyway. I know of a very good place in Oldham. He charged me £75 to fix my YLOD, my friend got his done at the same time. Mine broke again and I took it back to him and he said it was beyond repair this time and refunded my money straight away. He offers a 3 month warranty and my friends is still going strong 4 or 5 months later. This is cheaper than sony and you get to keep your hard drive. Another friend of mine has recently had the YLOD too and has taken it to someone in stockport (Manchester again). They only charged £50 and it seems okay, not a lot of time for conclusive recommendation though. If these aren't close search in google for PS3 YLOD repair (your town) in a uk search and I would be suprised if you didn't find someone. Cheapest I have seen is £50 and £95 is the most expensive. £75 is common though. If you have the original 60gb its worth thinking about backwards compatability for PS2 games and the ports you have on this one that are not on the others. IMO this makes repairing it more important than getting a new one. |

I had my 60GB PS3 die on me 4 times. Once you get the YLOD, it will always happen. It can't be permanently fixed. My advice to you is to get a new PS3. It will save you a lot of trouble in the future.
If you find someone that can do a cheap repair on your dead PS3, get it fixed and trade it in for a new Slim model while it's in working condition, to save you some money.

If you are tech-smart and familiar with the innards of your PS3, try out this fix.
Part 1 Part 2 Just a legal note saying I'm not responsible for any damage to your console. ![]() However, if you cannot do the above, you might as well get a coffin from Sony, or invest in a new Slim, that's what I did. Good luck! |

right basically you aer saying that i should trade my ps3 40gb which has been fixed by a company for a new slimline. problem is i dont have the warranty sticker on it anymore as they obviously had to take it off for repairs. will say GAME or GAMESTATION still trade my ps3 in for a slimline despite this.
any help would be great |

I was going to buy a refurbished PS3 but more then likely the ylod would happen again
This sucks!!! lol I might go and buy one after work fix it my self??!! I am an IT engineer so it shouldn’t be overly difficult but i really cant be asked.. But then again i don’t want to part with £250+ for a new ps3 ![]() Not cool I just ranked up to P5 on MW2
