Default Don't let your hard drive become full

Benchmarks and maths tells you as hard drives fill up (going from left = empty to right = full) they go from quite nippy to slow - as can be seen from the nice picture!

What I hadn't appreciated was what "slow" actually feels like when you just want to format 40GB. In fact it is so slow I have nothing to do but moan about how slow it is until it's done.

This is getting repetitive.

LOL!
In work I have 400gb free constantly on route drive.

EDIT: missed a 0

Just worked out this way with work hard drives. Only slow down I get is memory or processor.
Get a shit load of this though.

It's not really about how much you have free, it's how much as a % of capacity you have free. Of course you need 20GB spare for the page file though...

I think work/corporate IT networks are really interesting. Through storing programs on central fast drives, having a quick infrastructure and just being clever with what system resources you use, my college has made hundreds of Pentium 4/Athlon 64 systems perfectly adequete for office use.

But anyway, my partition has formatted now so I'm not bored anymore. bye.

That did take a while. 600gb hd by the way.
Trust me you would think the network I use in work is "interesting". I sit there on a daily basis in wanderment. The Macs and Pc's are barely on speaking terms and as for the raid.......
anyway glad it's finished.
bye

Actually the graph shows that your HD has a lower transfer rate and higher access times near the center of the disks than near the outer edges, nothing else.
