So I've been trying repeatedly to get my wallpaper to stay on but the desktop color keeps going back to the default dark blue for Windows Royale, it's getting incredibly annoying and it's been happening for the past 6 months. Haven't been able to find a fix and it does this with every single image I try to use so I know it's not a fault in the images themselves.

If it's important, I'm using a 1280x1024 monitor and an ATI Radeon X1300 Pro 256MB vid card, in case that has anything to do with it (Which I doubt but just in case).

Did you "aquire" windows from the net or a "friend" or did you buy it yourself?

I agree, it's annoying. However it's susposed to be annoying. This is one of the many things windows does when it realises it's an illegal copy to persuade you to go and buy a real genuine copy of windows. It sounds better than vista, that just gives you a black desktop... and of course you try and change it and 15 mins later it's back to black.

It's a legal copy and I found the problem, it stopped blanking when I stopped using the Windows Royale theme and instead went with the default theme. Sounds like it might be doing it because the theme wasn't legally acquired.
