im trying that now, but everytime i select my game and router some stupid ad pops up asking me: don't want to deal with forwarding ports? buy this.

I haven't seen the ad, in work but will look later.
You should be able to sort this out without buying any software.
The only exception I know of is if the router has everything locked (This is only shit routers, usually given free by ISP).

It works. That's where I went to get directions to open my NAT. Follow the directions and you should be all set.

All I had to do was walk five steps away to my router press a button that turns it off, wait five seconds, turn it back on, wait a couple minutes then its fixed

As funny as it is that someone may think you need to offer money for someone to be kind enough to help you out, you're probably never going to see 30 USD lol



The whole concept behind "opening" a NAT is to remove the restrictions on certain ports. This is primarily configured in a sort of BIOS for your router. Often ISPs have a certain amount of control over how your internet functions. I do not know whether their control is limited to DNS etc settings or whether they can control ports but it's deffinitely worth ringing your ISP and asking.

This is a good point, and while uncommon, some ISPs do block ports. Usually everything except the well known ports to counter p2p filesharing, etc (nice excuse for them to use to save themselves the cost of the bandwidth you paid for...). From what I understand though, some of these nasty port blocking ISPs may open up specific ports for you if you ask.

Definitely worth contacting them if all else fails. Just arm yourself with as much info as possible, ie the port numbers and protocols - TCP / UDP....
