Default Anyone ever bought from pixmania etc?

All the main etailors are charging silly prices for stuff like the HD5830, but there are loads of places selling it at around £160 according to google.co.uk/products search engine.

THE CATCH is that this time there is no catch. Normally crap shops show prices ex VAT so they come first in the price search engine, but you can get HD5830 with VAT & shipping for £160... now that is tempting...

of all the slightly dodgy looking shops that come up, pixmania is 100% the least dodgy and have seen it come up in many non-suspiciously-low-priced product searches. I mean it's not like that other dodgy tech site that sells 5870s for £3.53 and Athlon X2 5000+ (I had one, what, 3 years ago?) for £2,200.00 and other weird prices like £41.99,23

Pixmania RADEON HD 5830 - 1 GB GDDR5 - PCI-EXPRESS 2.0 review cheap prices RADEON HD 5830 - 1 GB GDDR5 - PCI-EXPRESS 2.0 Pixmania best buy discount online uk shop

see loads of sub £200 (under cutting known etailors by 20%) hd5830 - Google Product Search

Needless to say the wallet says yes, the mind says "too good to be true you idiot!." But pixmania on the other hand seems a cut above all the other never-heard-of-sites.

looks legit enough, and there is a 7-day money-back guarantee, which you should printscreen before you purchase. They could just be a new site, employing a price-skimming strategy of some sort, in attempt to attract new customers and gain a foothold in the market - which is not uncommon.

Go for it.

nah let's tempt dante into doing it first, he wants a 5850 so at £160 he'll fall for a 5830 instantly

The chances of me buying one are about the same as the rate of interest on my bank account...

If you need more than a 5770 (which lets face it, you do) but less than the silly silly silly 5850 price then this is not only perfect but it's what the 5830 is worth.

Shame all current games can be played so well on a 4800 series...

Wonder what BC2 would be like on a 4830, and is it good enough to warrant an upgrade. Hmm oh well, guess we'll never know.

You don't even know how tempted I am. I bought a mouse/keyboard/something minor from Pixmania once. It arrived.

Well that's a revalation. Was it just like buying from anywhere else? i.e. you order, choose a slighty-expensive shipping options and it comes when it said it did and came from who it said it'd come from and wasn't in some dodgy looking box with foreign writing all over it?

At £160 for a 5830 I have absolutely no issue with buying one, but WTF IS THE POINT?!?!?! I buy one game a year for my PC (COD) and since it's a console port it no-way-near stretches my system beyond it's capabilities, and my GFX card is getting a bit slow these days yet I bet it will cope with COD7 on highest settings with filters at 900 "p" fine.

Hmm...after thinking about this for a few minutes I realised that I didn't buy it from their website, but from their Amazon account, but it came in a reasonable looking box which also contained a Pixmania lanyard so as far as I can tell it came from them.
