If I'm downloading MW2 from Steam pause it, and then insert the physical DVD and begin installation, will the DVD start to install data from where the download has left off OR will the installation start from scratch and overwrite what was already downloaded ?

The time it takes to get this answer could be used uninstalling from steam and installing from the disc ^^

Yeah I just shoved the DVD in when, on release day, I got the stupid "downloading 11GB - ETA 11 hours" message since the steam servers were so busy and installed via the disc.

Since you have a disc, I assume you purchased this game? That's ironic, having pirated most/all of the COD games on PC you pay money for the one PC gamers hate the most

I think that you can use the "Repair Installation" button for this purpose.

To test this I deleted a chunk of MW2 in my steamapps directory then popped the DVD back in, after it done calculating the required HDD space it would need, it stated that it only needed 7041MB of space as opposed to the full 11GB. So It just starts from where the DL left off.


Yeah lol, I felt bad for paying for this heap of excrement, so I bought CoD4 aswell to ease my guilt ^_^

Oh no too late lol, well even if I did get to the sale in time, I wouldn't be able to buy it anyway, like what happened when I tried buy MW2 from them. -_-;

Not buying it off steam was probably a good move unless you can play games DL'd with steam without having to use steam.

Ah Steam hates me I tried buying MW2 from them 12+ odd times, and everytime my account was disabled or either my purchase denied -_-;


You can use Rev-Emu to emulate Steam in a lot of Singleplayer games successfully, and some Multiplayer games, (As long as they use Dedi Servers </3 MW2)

But some people mess up and get banned for using that lol
